I have to admit being skeptical that the new Spiritualized would be good. Not only is it good, I would maybe say it is even great. J Spaceman (Jason Pierce) nails it with this one. Songs in A & E drips thoughts and emotions of pain, suffering, hope and joy while screaming frailty. It really seems to capture his recent near death experience. I can't help but feel encompassed by the sincerity that falls from this record. It is still early but this could easily become one of my favorite albums this year. ..now I just need to score myself a vinyl copy of it.

What an adventure. Heather and I go on vacation, I have a one year MOG anniversary and while on vacation get to have my first ever MOG-meet with miss Green Eyes herself.

I can't say enough what a great time it was. She had planned a personal tour of Victory Brewing Company. How cool is that? Trust me, for a beer nerd such as myself it is pretty dang sweet. After the tour we hung out at the bar with a few beers....er strike that. We had more then a few beers maybe we had quite a few beers.

As the night went on, the climate got a bit louder. I was getting pretty amped up. Actually more then I thought I was. There were a few videos and pictures taken that I am not sure I really recall taking or being in. One video in particular was a bit embarrassing but conveyed the drunken fun that was had. (keep an eye out for that on the dark side)
Here is some evidence of the crazy night. Some of these pictures I may or may not remember taking. Ok, I don't remember taking or being in these pictures:
Here is my reflection on the urinal stall while peeing. Apparently I had a moment of urinating artistic inspiration. I am so turning this picture black and white and framing it.

Here is a picture Heather took of me. I guess I thought it would be a good idea to drink some of Lizzie's beer while she was away. :)

This is a picture of some random dudes up at the bar that I started talking to. I remember talking to them but not getting them to pose for a picture. ..i am such a dork.

Last but not least. The last picture I took of the night. Apparently this was taken right before Heather took the camera away from me. I am not sure why she did? grr...

So there you have it. I turned a year on MOG and got to whoop it up MOG style with Lizzie. How fitting. She is so dang nice.
I will add one thing that was kind of weird but not weird. When I called Lizzie for the first time to set up where and when we would meet that day it was kind of strange. Not in a bad way, but in a good way. She answered the phone and we started talking like we had known each other for years. It was so natural. I am sure other peeps who have participated in MOG-meets can relate to the pre-meet worries. Wondering how things will go etc. It could not have gone better. Not that I was worried...but maybe just a little apprehensive. What if Lizzie showed up in her leather outfit and whip? ;)
One last thing on the MOG anniversary thingie. I am not a big birthday kind of guy so I will not go on. But know this....I love you ALL! MOG has really been great for me. Thanks to you all for making my first year so incredibly special. Friends for life I tell ya...
Last but not least. A picture of Lizzie taking a shoe shot.

Nice shirt. Where did the shoe/feet thing come from anyhow?
dude...the urinal shot....it's like the second coming of Duchamp :)
Liz did bring a bit of the Victory when i met up with her for a concert up there....tasty stuff
OH! I almost forgot!!!! Lizzie forgot some stuff in our car since we drove her drunken ass home. We capitalized on the occasion and met for breakfast at a local greasy spoon diner in Downingtown. It was a great way to unwind from the night and clear our heads of the alcohol cobwebs. Look at these two special gals, I'm so lucky.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine was over and we kicking it till about 2am, whooping it up with some great beer and a lot of questionable music. We stumbled onto a Ting Tings video for the song Great DJ. It was a nice change of pace from all the gangster rap that MTV was peddling at that wee hour.
I tried to post the video for Great DJ but it has been disabled on YT. (go to the Myspace link below to watch the video) In its place I went with this less then stellar mix wise live clip. However, it does convey how this band really seems to be able to light up the stage with only two people. I so wish they would be coming to the Minneapolis area this summer.

Cool, they sound great live. And they sound much more than just two. Wait, when they are both playing drums, who's playing the synth & the bass? It must be a prerecorded backing track. I'd say that's cheating really! They still sound good.

Death Take Your Fiddle..This song creeps me out in a good way. .
The "Yeah Yeah" cut is very redolent of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" not only for Mr Pierce's delivery. The second track is just wicked because your new avatar made me hesitate where to click (you're an evil zombie, Mike!!!)
Thanks for the heads up.
Michael. muhahhahaha
