Quick Poll: Your favourite music blogs

Posted over 4 years ago
So what's your favourite mp3 blog? My hands down I'd-have-their-babies-if-it-was-anatomically-possible favourite is www.bumrocks.com There's no chat - just a new song every day or so, with an emphasis on dancefloor rock, synthy new age/balearic excursions, proto-house, disco, dancepunk and various other weirdo disco gems. It ranges from downtempo to upbeat and most of it's from the 70s and 80s, but there's plenty of new stuff as well, and it's all from way beyond the obscure and oddball end of the spectrum. Some of it sounds dinky and disposable but there are plenty of downright killers on there that you'd be lucky to hear or find any sort of reference to anywhere else. They also feature regular guest spots from the dons of today's nu-disco (gah! that word!) scene, like Prins Thomas, Brennan Green, Lexx, Tim Sweeney, and many others. It's hard to post an example to represent the diversity on offer, and my current favourite (a 10 min druggy Mountain of One guitar-disco edit of a Mott the Hoople song) is too big, but here's a Lexx rework of Fleetwood Mac's Showbiz Blues.

  1. fistula spume says It's tops on my list. I like that I can subscibe via iTunes so I can never miss a track. The only thing I don't like is I missed their first two months of posts. They post some really amazing music.
