From the Myspace blog of Thievery Corporation:

"New Album Sampler Posted!

For a sneak peek at what the upcoming Thievery Corporation album will sound like, check out the "Radio Retaliation Sampler" that was just posted on MySpace! More album details coming soon... release date is set for September 23rd, 2008!"

It's a 10 minute sampler covering several tracks from the new album. It sounds quite promising and worth a listen.

while I love these things, I also hate them. It makes you want to hear more but I guess that is kind of the point right? One of my favorite samplers was released by NOFX, they made it sound like a really bad radio show and it ended up being rather funny

Kev, I know what you mean. On one hand, I'd prefer to listen to full preview tracks. On the other hand, it's nice to get a feel for the entire album.

From the Turntables on the Hudson newsletter:

"http://WWW.NICKODEMUS.COM just re-launched with new DJ dates & "WONDERWHEEL RADIO" which includes old mixtapes from back in the days 1994, 1995 as well as a few new live DJ mixes...

Check every week for a new mix http://www.nickodemus.com/mixes.html"

I came across this article earlier today. It was written by Kenneth Corbin over at internetnews.com. Mr. Corbin cited a recent survey conducted by Digital Media News and BigChampagne, a media tracking group, which revealed that 1/3 of PC users surveyed still use a P2P application. Also, the survey revealed that Mac users were more likely to purchase downloaded music as opposed to PC users.

In addition, Mr. Corbin weighs in on the ongoing court battles between the RIAA and various defendants. It's a two page article worth reading.

RIAA has been bringing down the hammer as of late, which you are probably already aware of. First, the royalty increases for internet established by the CRB via SoundExchange and now they are establishing new rates for satellite, cable, and terrestrial.

It looks like March is the time when the CRB rate increases for internet radio will be discussed once again as judges here justification for the rate increases. These rate increases are wildly in excess of other media and many have complained loudly. With the new rates proposed for cable/satellite that are somewhat more in line with the proposed IREA rates, it is hard to see how RIAA will get away with this one. It remains to be seen though.

Here is another great resource on RIAA if you don't know already.
