Mogwai live

Posted almost 6 years ago
One word: extreme. That's the closest I can get to give an idea of how Mogwai are on stage.Surprisingly, there was some kind of very weird dramatization of the gig. It started with an empty stage and some bagpipes tunes. After a few minutes the band entered the stage all dressed in green hoodies. The first tracks they played were taken from Mr. Beast, their latest album. Quite nice and melodic... still. Ithica27/9 was the first of the oldest tracks they played, thus introducing the first bursts of sonic rage. Some other calmer tracks until they started the amazing Mogwai fear Satan, which was highly expected by the audience... as soon as it started, people became crazy. And from that moment, the concert turned to an explosion of larsens and distorted guitars until the end half and hour later. To me it was the highlight of this year's Montreux Jazz Festival rock selection so far...I just got really angry when I saw some people with 10 year old kids without earplugs... how can you be so mindless?I get to see the Strokes tomorrow...
