Little Feat "Live In Concert"

Posted almost 4 years ago
Lifted from Wikipedia:Little Feat is an American band formed by songwriter, singer and guitarist Lowell George and keyboard player Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles. The band broke up shortly after George's death in 1979, and reformed nine years later. A change of vocalist in 1993, ushered in the third incarnation of Little Feat. The band plays a mixture of blues, R&B, country, New Orleans funk, and rock and roll.Lowell George was an incredibly gifted musician. Born in Hollywood, becomes a member of Zappa, is kicked out. Forms Little Feat only to leave it about nine years later at their height of popularity. Becomes a solo artist and passes away shortly after that due to narcotics. I haven't heard any other artist who has been able to blend so many different styles of music and make it work.

  1. Blue Meenie says Such an infectious blend, can't see how you cannot love it. Similar to the Allman Bros., in that that were a kinda jam band. Great post, thanks for the reminder of a true talent, and a great group!

  2. Maple says I was watching TV late night last week and a commercial for a souther rock compilation CD was being plugged. All the usuals and......Little Feat. Which in a way I thought was a back handed compliment of sorts. The people who are selling the CD thought they were a southern rock band, but in reality they are not. I think a of people on first listen assume they are from the south which is really in due to George's ability as a musician to blend styles. Little Feat often gets lumped into the jam category, but they don't have many songs that are over 7-8 minutes even in concert. The term "jam band" is such a broad term these days...
