Birmingham-based Murdoch are four fresh young pups set to raise the pulse-rates of dance floors across the land with their delicious blend of raucous guitar noise with itching pop sensibilities. In the space of 18 months the band have gone from making gentle ripples in Birmingham to creating some seriously big waves - as witnessed by their recent headline show to 2,000+ fans at The Sanctuary. Resistance is futile! Recorded with producer Matt Ollivier (who's worked with the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Doves) the result is five terrifically danceable indie-pop songs. Tinged with raw punk vocals and fuelled with angst and valour, each one of the five tracks ticks all the required boxes from ridiculously catchy melodies to vital guitar swoons. Rock 'n' Roll music has a celebrated history of siblings in band. The brothers Berry, Jamie and Nick thankfully leave any sibling rivalry at home and instead bring to the table the kind of close harmonies that could only come from those who have the same blood coursing through their veins. Set up in 2003 and far from being the most politically correct name the band could come up with, Murdoch's label Speech Fewapy isn't their only extra-curricular activity. The band also host the club night 'Still No Word From Gaz' at Birmingham's Sunflower Lounge, so-called because Supergrass' Gaz Coombes was invited to DJ but never turned up. Word has it Gaz has since found out about the night and “pissed himself laughing”. With dates lined up for November and well into next year to coincide with the release of Factory 13, now is the time for Birmingham's brightest hopes to step forward.
