MOG, It's been awhile...

Posted about 5 years ago
My excuse for the long abscense from MOG is that I'm at a real University now and don't really have the luxury of reading the Mog-o as much as I once did as well as posting. I now live in a small college town in between two major cities that actually has some pretty good music and an awesome indie music store with nice folks working there. Anyhow, Austin is only a 30 minutes drive from where I am which is very nice except I am without a car. My favorite venues/bars/coffeehouses here are called Lucy's, The Triple Crown and Tantra. At those places I have seen Three Leaf, Cruiserweight, and The Word Association and more. All of bands have impressed me greatly. In the past I have not been the most faithful to local music. But now I see how wonderful it is. I am now supporting local music and it is awesome. I still get to Austin often and have seen some amazing music. Just Wednesday I saw Grizzly Bear. At 5 pm they were at Waterloo records for an acoustic set. Then later that night it was Emo's for the full set. Peter & The Wolf and the Papercuts opened. I liked it, a lot. Somehow I hope to get to Austin tonight to see What Made Milwaukee Famous and Dr. Dog w/ The Teeth...

  2. BarrieSutcliffe says University destroys any sort of regular online presence. I used to be huge into messageboards and chatrooms etc between 1997 and 2002, then once I started to study hard I just dropped it all. It all lost meaning Irregular activities like MOG and random blog posts are all I can bother with now. You'll find you're better for it. Sounds like you have a good music scene, too! Every city seems to have lots of bands, but few cities have quality bands. Looks like you found a gem.
