I'm not sure why, but this song makes my eyes well up and my heart get heavy. I just feel like...everybody gets sad, but when you're young it seems like the end of the world.
What else makes people out there get all teary-eyed? I played Wilco's "Sky Blue Sky" for a friend the other night and she made me turn it off because she was sobbing.
Music does wonderful, powerful things to people. And that's why I love it.
I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. Tonight I'm wide awake at 1:10 and I gotta get up early for work. As someone just said to me, "Congratulations, you're a true American."
I'm strangely hypnotized by this song. I'm pretty sure it's not good but, as I previously stated it's late. Who knows.
Anyone else up?

whodini are classic! can't hate on anything 2pac's used in his songs.
Sometimes I binge on a particular artist, and when I eventually move on, I think to myself that I may never listen to them again. This happened with Zeppelin, with The Beatles, with the White Stripes, and Wilco.
Recently, however, I've been getting kind of bored with my music collection. It's the classic problem, 431 albums and nothing's on. I'm not sure what kind of music I'm in the mood for, but it's nothing I have. I almost latched on to the "found sounds" style of The Avalanches, but I can't seem to find much else that's similar to them (help?).
What this all means is that I've been going back to all those old favorites. I've been listening to Wilco almost non-stop, and I basically fell in love with this song.
Two hundred words in and I realize this post has no purpose. The purpose is, I want to get involved in this site and have all of you wonderful people out there give me some recommendations!
I'm looking for something new and exciting. I want the feeling I got the first time I listened to TV On The Radio. I want to think, "This might be the best album I've ever heard," even if that feeling only lasts for a week.
Help me Moggers! You're my only hope!

Been there done that, brother. I've spent the entire drive searching for the perfect music, only to arrive at my destination unfulfilled. The fiance REALLY loves that.
I haven't checked your music inventory, but, based on your wilco, tvotr, avalaches, Zep, WS, Beatles references, how about these:
The National - Boxer Okkervil River - Stage Names Cut Chemist - The Audience's Listening (avalanches-like) The Bees - Octopus (Beatles-esque) Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
just a few off the cuff, before I head to werk.
this is looking like a best of 2007 list for me....

Since we're already speaking of Ryan Adams.... I'll share. :)
Ryan made my fiance bawl a few years ago, to the tune of "Avalanche" on _Love Is Hell_.

I found your photograph in a cardboard box in a magazine I can't remember you, remember us or anything I taught you how to feel, but you just feel numb They taught you how to feel, but you just feel numb
She comes apart in the avalanche Fades out like a dance Crawls back into bed When it's over When it's over When it's over And it's over
I watch the window and listen for the sound of cars I can't remember the last time that it was yours I taught you how to feel, why do you feel numb They taught us how to feel, but we just feel numb
She falls apart in the avalanche Fades out like a dance Crawls back into bed When it's over When it's over When it's over When it's over
She falls apart in the avalanche Fades out like a dance Crawls back into bed When it's over And it's over When it's over
All she could say was "It's just so sad" over and over again. It remains one of her favorites.
That's one of the things I've always loved about Ryan Adams: he can write some of the most heartbreaking songs ever, and they all ring true to some extent. He really gets what's it's like to wake up on those misty grey mornings and remember that, for now at least, you're all alone with no one to talk to but your memories and your coffee cup, and no time to do anything but think about what went wrong and why you're gone.

that's a great question, and those are some worthy candidates. i'll throw out some more for discussion [artist - song(s) (album(s))]:
Aphex Twin - Avril 14th and Kesson Dalef (Drukqs - Disc 1)
The Dubliners - The Fields of Athenry. i think this is public domain, so i assume a lot of people have done it, including the Dropkick Murphys (their version's not very sad, though)
Terry Allen - Dogwood (Juarez)
Hasil Adkins - Missing You Baby and Drinkin My Life Away (Drinkin' My Life Away)
Townes Van Zandt - Waiting Around to Die (Townes Van Zandt, Heartworn Highways, etc.). i think Townes takes the cake for me in terms of sad output. i know only a small portion of his material, but if it's not happy, it'll probably make you cry. or curl up in the fetal position and rock back and forth. Silver Ships of Andilar from The Late Great Townes Van Zandt is one of the most bleak and depressing (not necessarily sad) songs i've ever heard.
David Allan Coe - Heaven Only Knows (Live at Billybob's Texas)
Pat Kelleher & Dan O'Sullivan - Cocky Farmer, Auld Triangle, and Bar Na Sraide (Take the High Road Together). again, i think these songs are probably public domain material, so there are likely a lot of versions.
Billy Joe Shaver - When the Fallen Angels Fly (Tramp on Your Street), Sliver Wings of Time (Honky Tonk Heroes or Gypsy Boy).
Red Sovine - Teddy Bear
