Minus the Bear's fifth effort, _Planet of Ice_ is even better than their Spanish-self-titled _Menos El Oso_! They keep with the crazy time signatures, often rhythm changes, and provocative lyrics about life in general. However, as mature as the previous album was, the best thing about them is that they keep expanding on maturity. When they first came out they were known for and criticized for their serious lyrics but with funny or awkward song titles (i.e. Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!, Get Me Naked 2, or Thanks For the Killer Game of Crisco Twister), but now that seems to be disappearing and being replaced with song titles that leave you piecing together the puzzle of metaphors to get it, but nevertheless tactful, appropriate, and artistic. They are also beginning to sound like they have the makings for some serious singles, such as Burying Luck, Knights, Ice Monster, or Double Vision Quest. I know that it's not always about creating radio-friendly singles but, hey, even REM and Talking Heads got sick of eating ramen noodles! So check it out, this album will DEFINITELY be in my top 10 if not top 5 best records of the year! Which by the way, is coming soon!Here is a video for "Knights"! Enjoy!!!
