SUTC - Cyndi covers Joni
I have always liked this Joni Mitchell song, but until I read " Girls Like Us" I didn't know the story behind it. Joni meets a wild ex pat. from N. Carolina on a Greek Island, moves into the cave he lives in, has a great little "adventure" with this " red haired devil". Intriguing....now, on my shuffle last night this wonderful track pops up from An All Star Tribute To Joni Mitchell (2000) Cyndi Lauper singing "Carey" ( ..."you're a mean old daddy, but I like you") I like Joni, I like Cyndi, I like THIS - a stunning performance!

I feel a degree of ambivalence concerning ms Lauper. I have heard some very good tracks, & this is one perhaps, but she has more than her share of.......less than stellar performances.
I agree - superb performance - and that book WAS a great read!
Haven't heard her since she nailed Prince's "When You Were Mine" on her first album, so it's a pleasure to hear her pipes intact for this tour-de-force.
I'm with Deadmandeadman. Maybe I expect her to be "so (much more) unusual".
