The Eels will release both a greatest hits CD/DVD and B-sides/Rarities double-disc/DVD on January 15th.
Meet The Eels: Essential Eels 1996-2006, Vol. 1" (CD+DVD) includes 24 tracks and 12 videos that span the band's decade long career. The CD also features an unreleased Jon Brion remix of "Climbing To The Moon."
50 tracks make up the two discs of the Eels Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities and Unreleased 1996-2006.
While the DVD features the Eels at 2006's Lollapalooza, the album portion includes a previously unreleased cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put A Spell On You," as well as covers like James Carr's "Dark End of The Street" and Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend." BBC performances and film tracks from flicks like The End Of Violence, Holes, Levity and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. A track with frontman Everett playing with a 28-piece orchestra also makes the set.
