Madonna’s breakthrough acting performance in (no, not Swept Away) Desperately Seeking Susan is being morphed into a musical. The show will not star Madonna, nor will it feature her music. Madonna’s video “Get Into the Groove” featured clips from the 1985 flick, but the film’s soundtrack was composed by Thomas Newman and Chaz Jankel.Madonna, “Get Into the Groove” However, the Desperately Seeking Susan musical is still taking an Abba/Mama Mia! approach with songs by Blondie and an original new track from the band’s frontwoman, Debbie Harry. Harry penned the song “Moment of Truth” for the musical which follows the 1985 flick closely (“A bored suburban housewife, seeking adventure to her life, accidentally gets hit on the head, wakes up with amnesia, and is mistaken for a free-spirited New York City drifter named Susan, IMDB.) “Heart of Glass,” “One Way or Another” and “The Tide Is High” are some of the Blondie songs on the musical’s score.
