The Beastie Boys will be doing more "ill communication" with fans this summer. The trio has just announced MORE intimate shows in support of their new summer album, the all-instrumental The Mix-Up.In addition to their intimate early August shows, Mike D, Ad Rock and Nathaniel Hörnblowér will head west and play "Gala" shows.According to a press release, these shows "will be in smaller spots, more exclusive, more intimate." Ummm, last time we were at Red Rocks Amphitheater it was a pretty freakin' huge venue encased in mammoth red slab in the foothills of Colorado. "This will be more like quality time, our time, just you and the band sitting by a fire on a tropical beach late at night being serenaded with love songs." the band went on about the Gala shows in New York, Denver and San Francisco that will be only-instrumental affairs. "These shows are for people that are into our weird stuff." We're thinking for those fans who are bigger fans of the Beastie's stuff off The In Sound from Way Out than say, Hello Nasty.Beastie Boys, "Off the Grind" off The Mix-Up
The Mix-Up is out everywhere already. Fellow Mogger Qoolquest aka Questlove aka drummer for the Roots, has been spinning the disc too.Beastie Boys Tour Dates:8/1: Philadelphia, PA, Festival Pier8/4: Baltimore, MD, Virgin Festival8/6: Boston, MA, Bank of America Pavilion8/8: New York, NY, Central Park SummerStage8/9: Brooklyn, NY, McCarren Park Pool8/10: New York, NY, Hammerstein Ballroom8/16: Morrison, CO, Red Rocks8/17: Denver, CO, Fillmore8/20: Los Angeles, CA, Greek Theatre8/23: Santa Barbara, CA, County Bowl8/24: San Francisco, CA, The Warfield8/25: Berkeley, CA, Greek Theatre
