Gogol Bordello New Album: Italian Folk Music Meets Gypsy Punk

Posted over 2 years ago
Gypsy-punk outfit Gogol Bordello is in the final stages of recording their fifth album, Super-Taranta, the follow-up to 2005’s somewhat breakthrough album Gypsy Punk. Ukraine native and frontman for the band, Eugene Hutz, told NME this week that he "stumbled onto the idea when I saw a painting in Italy. It showed a woman having convulsions and a guy standing over her playing violin and I thought, 'That shit is SO us! It's more Gogol Bordello than Gogol Bordello!' But we called our album 'Super-Taranta' because it's not just a cure for women, (Note: The album title derives from Tarantella, an Italian folk music used to calm hysterical women) it has the power to cure men too. It's unisex!" Hutz also revealed that some new tracks include 'Ultimate', 'Wonderlust King', 'Forces Of Victory' and 'Super Theory Of Super Everything.'
