Today comes the long awaited confirmation that R.E.M's Peter Buck and Michael Mills are straight. A play on the obsession media has with the band's frontman Michael Stipe's sexual orientation was announced today via press release and read: "R.E.M.'s Mike Mills and Peter Buck announced today that they are both, after years of awkward speculation, heterosexual, or "straight." Singer Michael Stipe declared his relief, and acknowledged that this turn of events was welcomed news, congratulating their courage and candidness.
