Coachella Promoters Heading East
AEG Live/Goldenvoice, the promoters of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, are planning a major event for the NYC-area. Despite early rumors that the promoter was moving its Coachella festival to the eastern seaboard (that's NOT happening), "Billboard has confirmed":http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080116/music_nm/newyork_dc;_ylt=AkinfM_QGRtE4mSXi9yiN.VxFb8C AEG Live/Goldenvoice will indeed throw another festival in New Jersey. The fest, which will not be called Coachella 2 or bear any other title resembling its west coast counterpart, will be held at Liberty State Park, across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan in New Jersey. Thus the sunny Cali fest is getting its own Big Apple version. An lineup announcement for this year's Coachella fest being held in its usual Indio, California spot from April 25th-27th, is expected later this week.
