Burt Bacharach will be honored with a lifetime achievement Grammy award, at a ceremony one day before the 50th Grammy Awards February 9th, 2008. The Band, Doris Day, jazz singer Cab Calloway, classical violinist Itzhak Perlman, jazz drummer Max Roach and bluegrass banjo player Earl Scruggs will also be honored. Folk singer Joan Baez received the award last year. The grammy Lifetime Achievemnet award is a "Special Merit Award presented by vote of the Recording Academy's National Trustees to performers or non-preformers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artist significance to the field of recording."
