Weezer tells Billboard that they're splitting with longtime label home Geffen Records and going the independent route. They didnt specify whether they planned to sign with a smaller label or start their own, but they aren't sitting still according to bassist Scott Shriner.
"We're always working on some new music. I can't really go into any detail about that yet, but we're all writing and working on new stuff."
Weezer is going to play Bonnaroo in June, plus another 13 dates this summer. They will also put out a deluxe re-issue of Pinkerton, along with a collection of rarities and b-sides. Hopefully this means we get to see some of the songs that Rivers Cuomo has notoriously scrapped over the years. [via Pitchfork]
