They just arent the same...

Although I like the new style, Modest MOuse is no longer on the edge of their music. They dont bounce around finding different styles and stuff people have never heard before. I do think the new CD is catchy, but they have found their nitch in music. They arent searching anymore. Example: The Moon and Antarctica. A great CD, and not even a very old one. Paper THin Walls was catchy, kinda like the new stuff, but with lines like "its been agreed the whole world stinks so no ones takin showers anymore" definately shows they arent in the best mood lol. Dramamine and Stars Are Projectors are like 15 mins between just the two, and they dont repeat for a second. Those songs are so complex, its unreal. THey even have stuff with a punk edge like A Different City. ANd my personal favorite, Perfect Disguise. Great guitar with a message that says screw you to those who screw me....i can relate to that kinda stuff. Ill attach the song, and tell me if ya feel the same way lol...but anyways. All im saying is that I will miss Modest Mouse of before, and i still appreciate the Modest Mouse of now...but they just arent the same...

  1. mkutche says I completly understand what you mean. The music is different but I understand that happens. I dont think they have gone away completly from what they used to be, just progressed maybe is a better way to put it. I just wish they would do some of the older stuff on tour. I saw them two weeks ago in Chicago and it was mostly song off the new CD and Good News, though they did do Trailer trash, Paper thin Walls, and Ocean breaths Salty. I understand that they played their old stuff for years and maybe they are just tired of playing it? Spitting Venom was the encore I so very much wanted and it was awesome, but I think I can speak for other true fans when I say, "We want to hear the songs that made us fall in love with you"...

  2. M0d3stM0us3 says YES! That is exactly what i mean! I am so glad people agree, becuz i wasnt sure if i was being to hard on them. I havent had as much a love for them after they got big. I liked being able to say my favorite band is Modest Mouse and they say "who?" But as far as the concerts go, i TOTALLY wanted to go to the Chicago one, but it just couldnt happen. But I think they will start playing older stuff at least every once in a while. On their myspace they are putting up some old songs too, so its somewhat promising.
