Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is set to release a DVD on September 18th from his Royal Albert Hall show last year. The show featured several Floyd favorites, including "Time", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Fat Old Sun", and "Echoes". The DVD, entitled _Remember That Night_, will also feature all the tracks off of Gilmour's solo effort, _On An Island_, which reached number one on the UK album charts last year. Performers that night included Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and David Bowie. Crosby and Nash feature on the the CSNY track "Find the Cost of Freedom" and Bowie on Pink Floyd's "Arnold Layne" and "Comfortably Numb". Here's a preview of the DVD with Bowie providing the vocals for Pink Floyd's first single about a clothes stealing cross-dresser...The full track listing and more information can be found "here":http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070707/music_nm/gilmour_dc.

  4. Lizziegreeneyes says DUDE - it has ALWAYS been BOWIE for me - Don't tell Maynard though... at least, not til after we see him, he kinda scares me ;) I am going to look round for a watering hole for us - not too sure about the tail to the gate in that locale & if it's not Kosher - we would want to pick a specific place - not the best of neighborhoods our Reading PA... But I think maybe JRM has them both beat.... granted - he was playing a Bowie-esque character at the time... still

  10. nordico says I caught the two Gilmour shows out here in LA, and they were were both nights to remember! I knew they'd be great shows, but when he rolled out "Echoes," it completely blew everybody's mind! What a magnificent opus, replete with the whale sounds and lasers! Gilmour and Rick Wrights harmonies are SO MUCH a part of the Floyd sound, and to hear them together those nights was tranformational. I also caught 7 of Roger Waters concerts over this last tour. Absolutely fantastic, and in a different way; very political and from a quite humanist point of view. Really an anti-war rally if you think about it. Look at the set list. I completely agree that there's really no reason for the Floyd to re-unite. These guys are incredible musicians and incredibly intelligent, creative people who still have something to say. It's this willingness to evolve that separates them from the "nostalgia" tours a la the Police. Can't wait for the DVD. I also understand that there is some kind of "theatre" presentation for the debut, where you can pay like 12 bucks and see the DVD on the big screen with some sort of live performance by Gilmour. You guys know anymore about this?
