Lyrical Revolution's Lyrics of the Week 10/25 - Childhood Dreams

Posted over 3 years ago
If I may be romantic for a moment, this is, put simply, my future wedding song."Childhood Dreams" - by Nelly FurtadoI can't believe you need meI never thought would be needed for anythingI can't believe my shoulder would carry such important weightAs your head and your tearsI can't believe you chose me, in all my fragility, meIt hurts so much when I love you, it makes me cry Every timeYou, you are, oh you areThe little boy made for me in the starsIn the star, that's why I can't let you goThe little boy made for mi in the starsThat's why I love you more the further I goAnd before this existence you were always thereWaiting for meYou are, you are the realest thing I knowHands downThe realest thing I knowI am not used to being carriedOr being able to carry a pretty songI have been bruised by my many trailsSometimes my skin's so thick it's frailI just need to be ignored 'til I wake up to the beauty that is yoursAnd it all comes to life so suddenlyThis is a place so deep, the water's so deep I hesitate, causeAll the energy it takes to feel this powerI tend to run, I tend to hide, I tend to scream 'til I find you and I know Igot youI know, I know, I knowYou're the little boy made for me in the starsIn the stars, that's why I can't let you goThe little boy made for me in the starsThat's why I love you more the further I goAnd before this existence you were always hereInside of meYou are, you are the realest thing I knowHands down...the realest thing I knowI'm sliding on the rainbows of my childhood dreamsI'm sliding on the rainbows of my childhood dreamsWhen you carry me, when you carry me, when you carry meIt's so happyI'm sliding on the rainbows of my childhood dreamsI'm sliding on the rainbows of my childhood dreams

  1. MrFrost says her Folklore album was so much different than her newest album loose...I guess she needed that big pop edge to pay the bills

  2. LyricalRevolution says It was VERY different. Actually, I like the melancholic Nelly better than "sexy" Nelly. But if you want to look at the bright side, at least she's doing something different each time around. That's what an artist is supposed to do, right? - Stretch themselves and never make the same record twice? Whoa, Nelly was folk and very dark, then Folklore was added some Latin rhythms and a decidely more cheerful mood as she had just had her baby, and now Loose is sexy and club. It is easy for some fans to say that she's sold out, which is untrue if you look at her history rapping before she ever recorded her debut album. I think she fits better in the darker indie world, though, definitely sans MTV who completely abandoned her on Folklore and all of the sudden started kissing her a*s when she went, like you said, pop.
