ok, something CRAZY is going on with MOG today. is this some sort of crazy preview of things to come, or is this how it's going to stay, and we are now in the future version of MOG already?my brain can't hack it....and what is this on the front page of mog about how my "do you like prince?" thing is the post of the day? is it really, or is it just showing me my most recent post? because i didn't even post that today, i think it was saturday. or something. whatever, i'm so confused. anyhow.
DUDE. Almost anyone who knows me knows that I have an almost unhealthy "interest" in the *Dismemberment Plan*, or just *Travis Morrison* in general. After D-Plan broke up, I actually got to meet "Trav" at MACrock a couple years ago, and despite varied reports that he's, quote, "a dick", he was really nice and I got to carry his guitar (which was probably not as exciting as it seemed at the time). So, you know, it's been awhile since I've gotten my fix - which is why their planned reunion shows come at such a great fucking time. That's RIGHT - reunion shows! I am STOKED.Not that I fucking got tickets - there are two shows, both at the Black Cat in DC on April 27th and 28th. The first has already sold out, and the other one probably will too, but that will NOT stop me from at least ATTEMPTING to go. I mean, hello - The Motherfucking Dismemberment Plan! How do I pass that up? It's physically impossible. In other news, MACRock isn't HAPPENING this year. That's right - the only "music festival" (quotes are used because it doesn't take place in a field and there is no camping involved) that has ever been REALLY convenient for me (i.e. 2 blocks from my former apartment in Harrisonburg) is taking a vacation this year. MACRock (the Mid-Atlantic College Radio Festival) has been going strong for years, with previous bands from Fugazi to Elliott Smith to ....etc., there are a ton of them has always taken place on the JMU campus and a few other venues throughout the town, but in 2008, it will free itself from its association with JMU and instead stick to mostly the downtown area of Harrisonburg (which, by the way, is a cool fucking town even if it does get old after 3 years of drinking too much). Sadly, by 2008, I'll be in Texas, so I won't be able to go - which is why the fact that it's OFF for this year totally blows. Anyways, the point is that you can work MACRock and get discounted tickets, which is the best way to do it, I think (you get to meet the artists and wear cool tshirts, i mean, what's not to love?) and they're always looking for people to help out, so if you have any reason at all to think that you'd be in town then, sign up for the 08 run...you can take my place {insert heavy sigh here}.
