wanna see a show and there are none = move

Posted about 5 years ago
So the past two times I've gotten an absolute itch to see a show, I've gotten lucky - The Wailers were coming, and then Badfish, and I was sated for awhile. Now, I've got that urge again (less than 2 weeks later, which isn't bad, considering that when I was younger and richer I averaged 2 per week) and this time, NOBODY COOL IS COMING. All weekend. No good shows.A slight possibility is *The Hackensaw Boys* at the Jewish mother (they have Jones Soda on the menu, which makes them cooler than 99.9% of all other places, but they don't serve alcohol, which makes them 25% less cool, but ...it's a very complicated equation, just trust me). I saw them at All Good last summer, and they're totally awesome, even if it's not normally the type of music I'd listen to. As far as I could tell, there were between 5 and 10 of them (I was chemically impaired, what do you want from me?) but they each just about all of the instruments used in the band, and they switch from one to the other at least once per song, and take turns on all of them, and take turns singing, and more than anything, it's really fun to watch and dance around to. The only thing is that it's Saturday night, and I don't think I can talk anyone into going with me, what with all the parties that are going on this weekend.Has anyone ever heard of:*Custom Blend**Red Jumpsuit Apparatus*or *Guta*? They're the only other ones playing this weekend, so I'm getting a little hopeless. And wow, there are no cool bands coming almost all month, from what I can see on "jambase":www.jambase.com. I say this all the time, but I NEED to move. I went on Seattle's jambase and just drooled for a half hour. Ugh, and Portland's, just now. And I went on Austin's just out of curiousity since it looks like I might be moving there, but there wasn't much to see. On the other hand, *Sufjan Stevens* is going to be in DC, so maybe I should just move there like I planned. At this point, who even knows. The point is that although VB and Norfolk occasionally get kick-ass shows (*Decemberists* on 4/1, need I say more?) but ultimately, it's just not working for me here. How sad is it that I would literally, actually move somewhere based solely on the music scene? It's like a disease.

  1. Rawkkiddoh says Don't feel bad, it seems almost every band is afraid of coming to Minnesota in the winter.

  4. Lyla says see, she thinks you’re silly, too. note to self: typing “cavewoman” into google image search results mainly in porn. and lots of it. find out when men became so apparently fascinated by them. because that’s just strange.

  5. Rawkkiddoh says I had to try it and you were not lying. I think Chris Hanson should do a dateline NBC special on it.
