WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

savior, save yourself

so, i got my mog swag today. i'm going to take it over to a couple of the local record shops (they let us put shit up for free). i was delighted to see that the fliers i got said "a musical nudist colony", as that is absolutely my favorite tagline thus far.anyhow, i haven't been around much lately. new in my musical world:i got a call from adam, the owner of Volume (my favorite local shop, been going since i was about 12) saying that my CDs were in, so I now own legitimate, non-downloaded copies of: *The Decemberists*, _The Crane Wife_. (now, this one, i can explain. i spent COUNTLESS dollars on a psychotic trip up to DC, staying in hostels, etc. to see them - TWICE! - at the 9:30 club, and didn't have the money to actually PURCHASE the CD. but i have now. AND I saw the goddamn CD at Target for $9.99, but spent $16 on it at Volume, because I support my independent shops instead of stupid big corporations. so i get extra credit, dammit. the sin of downloading it has been erased.) *Tarkio*, _Omnibus_. Colin Meloy's first band. Very different from the Decemberists. Have been looking for it online for months, and finally broke down and bought it. TWO DISCS! is a Christmas Miracle. it's like new decemberists music i've never heard, only not. because it's just colin. but i love him. *Menomena*, _I Am The Fun Blame Monster_. Because I've been touting it for months and it seemed wrong not to actually own it. Came with a fun flip-book. Name of CD is "menomena's first album" mixed up. makes me laugh. Although actually, I downloaded this CD randomly after reading a decent review, and if I hadn't downloaded it, I'd never have bought it, so once again - justified!I still have *Letting Up Despite Great Faults* coming in next week, so that's when I'll drag down my Mog shit and lay it out in the store. I haven't been posting very much lately, but I'm so bored at work that it's pretty safe to assume I'll make up for it magically, all in one day (today).

  1. Sweetbro says I love the menomena flip book. The music is great too... but seriously, the flip book, big selling point :)

  2. Sweetbro says there is something inherently sexy about a man obsessed with Proust, literature in general, and who is a bit on edge...
