Okay, so, so far, 2009 RULES. Musically of course. Otherwise I guess it's a pretty mediocre year. This far into 2009 we've already heard new Animal Collective which everyone is raving about and I love as well. But, a little band from Welland, Ontario has made a huge impression on me as of late. Of course, I'm talking about Attack in Black and their new album Years (by One Thousand Fingertips) wh...

By looking at the Grammy nominations, somebody can probably see that this wasn't a huge year for music. With the biggest nods going to In Rainbows by the somewhat finished Radiohead, Viva La Vida by the Radiohead-copycats Coldplay and the biggest nods going to Tha Carter III by Lil Wayne, it seems that music somewhat slowed during the year of 2008. Let's be fair, In Rainbows will never touch OK...

It's been a while since I've posted and I don't really have all that much to say. I guess I'll give a brief update while I'm here. So far this year I've been impressed by the new Animal Collective album Merriweather Post Pavilion and the new Attack in Black album Years (by one thousand fingertips). For those who are skeptical about the latter, give it a solid listen. It's nothing like their las...

I've recently been overwhelmed with everyone's negative review of Kanye West's new album, 808s & Heartbreak, which dropped just under a month ago, and I, for one, cannot understand why. Seriously, for West to follow up Graduation with such a solid, albeit different sounding, album is an extremely impressive feat. I mean, we've got Graduation, which was arguably a perfect Hip-Hop album, and then...

Been gone for a while folks, good to be back. I have vastly broadened my musical horizons and realized I have been wrong in most of my previous posts. My opinionated, yet uneducated, self definitely got the better of me back then.I would like to briefly address where I have gone wrong, if you will permit me to.Emo, although it may not be defined as a genre, boils down to, usually, post-rock. Ho...

After hearing Sebastien Grainger's first full length release, one questions runs through my head. What was he doing with JFK in the first place? Don't get me wrong, Death From Above '79 is a great listen, but looking at post-DFA careers for both of them here is what we are left with: Jesse Keeler as a part of MSTRKRFT which, as far as I'm concerned, doesn't exist; and Sebastien Grainger & The M...

So this month (June 19th) Bon Jovi and his band will be releasing their 10th album (Not including live albums or compilations). This raises two questions in my head: a) IS THIS GUY EVER GOING TO GIVE UP and; b) HOW MANY GENRES WILL THIS GUY COVER? Is enough enough for Bon Jovi and his crew yet, or are we still waiting for more from him?P.S. Among others who may be considered washed up releasing...

Not that I support the generalization of emo, but if screamo is a genre shouldn't it also be classified under emo? I'm also kind of sick of people saying that 'I'm not emo because the bands I listen to don't categorize themselves as 'emo''. The reason that this is true is because it's not a mainstream genre and no band will define THEMSELVES as an emo band. I like to take this stance myself whe...
