WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Mix It Up

Posted over 3 years ago
I think it was the fact that my mother used to rifle through my room as soon as I left for school when I was a kid that did it. That is the only reason I can come up with that can explain why I am compelled to give the playlists on my iPod such bizarre titles. I feel the need to keep something sacred, even if someone comes into my realm under the guise of cleaning and rummages and reads things not meant for mothers' prying eyes. (whew, guess that spot was more tender than I thought, huh? You'd think a few decades would have dulled the pain of invasion of privacy.) If someone happened upon my iPod and turned it on (assuming I didn't immediately discover them and kick their ass) they would find such enigmatic titles as; Summer Sing, Summer Song, Enjoy, Comet, 90, Blue, Boys and Blondes, New, and Sunday Morning. Okay, so what with my admission of my love for all things *NSYNC it probably isn't tough to decipher the Boys and Blondes one, however, admitting what the GIANT difference is between Summer Sing and Summer Song might make someone's brain bleed. Fear not, I'm not gonna tell you.Being the resident music nerd in my circle of friends, I make a whole lot of mix cd's and send them out whenever I make myself drag ass to the post office. I make mixes a lot, but go to the post office less than I go to high school reunions so whenever a friend gets a package from me it usually weighs eleventeen thousand pounds and contains a spindle of mixes. Much to their amusement, I title my mix cd's like I title my playlists. Fortunately, their brains work a lot like mine so it is rare that someone asks what the titles mean. (the current favorite Lola Mix cd title was for my Tasty friend when she finally threw herself out of a bad marriage to a McDonald Land character. It was titled "I Can Do Better" Self explainitory.) Here's a tip. If you get a cd from me and are baffled as to why I would make a mix including Prince, Al Green, and Etta James and title it "IT" then you aren't thinking hard enough. All the above rambling leads up to one question. It build upon the old Desert Island question but this one leaves a bit more wiggle room. You are stranded on a desert island in a location that experiences all 4 seasons. You can bring 4 mix cds; Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. Give me one song for each cd.
