I have nothing to compare Monday’s show to... Will, Katrina & Ian have been to a few in the past 13 years or so... I lost touch with my friends who would want to go to see TOOL... so that’s been my hiatus.Seems we got one of the better shows, this coming from folks that have seen quite a few this tour. All I know is – they had a lot to live up to... though I didn’t _*SEE*_ them back in 1993 when first I *_HEARD_* them – I was amped for the show, for meeting the three MOGalicious folks mentioned above & to see what I anticipated would be an insanely intense show. I was blown away... Seats on the floor & far enough back to see the most spectacular light show (MCR a very close second), that I have ever seen. The screens never once showed the gents on stage... NO – TOOL would rather trip you out with visions of fire & water & puppets from hell, eyeballs falling into a spiral of gigantic proportions – or is it coming toward you... also bringing some of the more memorable images from the last album _10,000 Days_ that were eerily beautiful & tortured all at once. _10,000 Days’_ album shows off one of the best packaging ideas I’ve ever seen. Then, the show becomes total adult *eyecandy* !!!! The lasers... OH THE LASERS !!!! Starting small with green (a fantabulous color to start with I say) & gradually getting bigger & throwing more colors into the mix. Watching them go above your head & hit the back of the SC in Reading... I am a watcher... I love to see where the lights land & how that bounces into my cranium... these were spectacular. Then these beauteous lasers turn into lighted cleavers slicing through the smoke to create the most wonderfully disturbing images of stormy skies (least that’s what I saw)... whoa nelly. Sober (heheh) – this show had me trippin ballz & it was awesome... nothing bad about a free high.We had steroid-infused air-guitarists in front, drunken sorority girls next to S-I A-G & mucho Mohawks... Ian sported an army green RAGE shirt – you’re shocked aren’t you ??? For the rest of the population residing in the Sovereign Center (including Will, Katrina & myself), black was the color of the evening... Though, if my eyes aren’t already failing... looked like Maynard was sporting a green (ahhh what a lovely color) T-shirt as well... *_Ian, did you two plan that ???_* ;)Now the music... that was just surreal – it was TOO good – it was beyond words... at 32, my neck is still aching – but the noggin was willed into movement it hasn’t seen in years & it’s one of those _”good pains”_ !!!Here’s the set list... RagIan... let me know if I got anything incorrect... kid’s got a killer Tour Diary. I should do the same – but by the time I leave a venue – it’s all swirled into one glorious memory of lights, sounds, tastes to make up a most wonderous Blendini (TM). (Rita’s Water Ice’s most sinfully addictive creation since rockin the Philly tradition of a Gelati... look it up – they are insane) !!!!JAMBISTINKFIST EXT46 & 2SCHISM EXTLOST KEYSROSETTA STONEDFLOODWINGS FOR MARIE (WINGS PART 1) 10,000 DAYS (WINGS PART 2)LATERALUSVICARIOUSI’ve always felt that for as hard a band as TOOL is – Maynard’s vocals bring it to a level that more people could & SHOULD enjoy. There is something to be said for cruising down the AC Expressway BLARING any one of the TOOL albums I have on the pod. This show was like driving the expressway multiplied by... let’s say 10,000 ;)The drum signatures have never ceased to amaze & confound me... changing time constantly... keeping this old bird on her toes for sure... & *Jambi* is a perfect example of these insane changes... This song & Vicarious are my two favorites from the latest album, but really – wracking my brain for songs of theirs I don’t like... nothing springs to mind. Then a little *Stinkfist* lovin... less centered on the drums, more vox & the bass line that drives this one... but the lyrics “But it's not enough. I need more. Nothing seems to satisfy. I said, I don't want it. I just need it. To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive...I’ll keep digging, til I feel something”... hearing that live was a highlight – can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewound just that section of the song when I really needed to hear it... & there have been those times. *Schism*... another favorite of mine, again the insane bass line & drums that shake to the core with signature & tempo changes. “Finding beauty in the dissonance.”, I should say so & TOOL expertly proves there is extreme beauty in the that disc(h)ord. Then they hang their hats again in the latest album for four songs separated by a _Flood_. *Lost Keys* into *Rosetta Stoned*... it takes your hand & guides you into the darkest recesses... once you hit Rosetta... there’s not turning back. *Wings 1 & 2* are a _”gentler side”_ ;P to TOOL – course, gentle to TOOL ain't so gentle. *Lateralus*: total highlight for me as well – not to mention the fact that the Big Business drummer sits in along with Danny... talk about a driving song... thought the roof was coming off for sure !!! Leaving us with my other favorite track from the latest album, *Vicarious* closes out a night that went way beyond my expectations. Not only meeting three great people all thanks to MOG, but seeing a band I haven’t seen in far too long. & then there was the circus sideshow of READING, PA... Never had a better MONDAY night ;) Sure made Tuesday morning a brutal one – though I had a one hour drive versus the four for Katrina (driving love), Ian (wingman) & Will (sleeping in the back). Thanks !!!!The one I hoped for... but got away ;)*H.*& for my three friends from south of PA... a little EUGOOGLEY ;)Now I'z DUN... D. U. N. DUN !!! That is, 'til tomorrow... ;P
