YOU CAN'T NOT GET NO SATISFACTION

My Very Own Songbird

h1. Eva Cassidy. One of the most beautiful voices these two ears (with perfect hearing I might add) have ever heard. She passed away at 33 from cancer - way WAY too soon. Her voice is so pure & true it often brings a few tears along with a lot of love. She is beyond genre - as she fits into so many different styles so effortlessly it's breathtaking & impossible to define or categorize.I have another amazing vocalist to thank for the introduction to Eva Cassidy. Her name is "*Mieka Pauley*":http://www.mieka.com/news.shtml & she sang Eva's rendition of *Fields of Gold*. I am not the biggest fan of the Stingster ;)... but these two women bring so much to his song, I've learned to enjoy him from time to time. She is best known for her covers of +*Somewhere Over the Rainbow & Fields of Gold*+. Me, I have two others that astound me & though both songs are of a bittersweet nature - her voice's warmth is all I need to instantly feel better. Here are my two favorites (& I'll link the first two for you to check out as well).+*Time After Time*++*Autumn Leaves*+"*Fields of Gold*":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3YVil3Ajjs"*Somewhere Over the Rainbow*":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGE_Fd9B6-4

  4. dermahrk says She's great, and it kind of stinks that her death helped bring her to prominence. Same for Nick Drake. I wish they were both around, just as famous, producing great new music. Eva has been getting a LOT of mog love lately. Kudos.

  8. The Serenity Vortex says I feel sad now :( and too think she died the same age as I am at the moment. The universe must have had other work for her soul . . .

  9. Lizziegreeneyes says At least we have what we do - listening keeps a bit of her here with us !!! Sorry Flood. Yeah, puts things in total perspective. I used to be "way younger" in my mind, now at 32... these missing artists resonate so much more. Mortality is a completely different word.

  12. Lizziegreeneyes says *You ALL* should check out "Mieka Pauley":http://www.mieka.com/news.shtml as well - she has so much soul in her voice... she's a good friend of "Ryan Montbleau":http://www.ryanmontbleauband.com/ He's a doll and so talented as well !!! The first time I saw Mieka - she opened for Ryan... that was a great night at The Point, sniff sniff :( I miss my venue :( !!! There is only one Eva, but it's nice to know artists who appreciate the ones before & create something beautiful & new...

  13. moovyphreak says Loves me some Eva Cassidy... It's a shame she's no longer with us, but her music is quite a legacy to leave behind. I included her version of "Time After Time" on a recent mix CD that I made for myself & friends.

  14. Lizziegreeneyes says Great, & I do mean *GREAT CALL Drew* I also gotta give props to my favorite girl from the 80s (well one of many - but Sister Cyndi Lauper so rocked my world... always will). To have both these powerhouses to perform the song Time After Time - something I treasure :) Drove All Night - another perfect song for me... the video also rocks... ... I have been working diligently on your mix... but then life happens... should have it ready to go next week... sorry for the delay :)
