*Cut: Miranda Sex Garden* - Evanessence wishes they (she) could sound like MSG on their best day !! *Somethin’ Hot: Afghan Whigs* – they are the epitome of hot to me. It’s all about the sex in his voice & in those guitars! I love this quote from Jason Ankeny: (Who else would deliver a lyric like "I got the devil in me, girl" as though it were a pickup line?)*Early to Bed: Morphine* – Daggumit, I lurve these guys & all this great sound without a guitar ... all about that voice, & the sax, definitely the sax *Kabuki Girl: Descendents* – one of my first forays into the Punk movement was the Descendents, LOVE THEM *Turn it Out: Death from Above 1979* – Again with the crazy vocal styley & dirrrrrrrty guitars!*Let’s Build a Fire: +/- {plus/minus}* – I found this band thanks to Anderson Cooper (yup, I said it – Mr. 360 himself), through his iTunes recommendations. *Lower Down: Jeff Klein* – this is a slower one for the album, but I just love the gravel & smoke in his vocals, plus it kicks it up towards the end. *Three Days: Jane’s Addiction* – this is one of my **+near perfect+** songs. Everything about it – Perry’s vocals, Dave’s guitar. If you haven’t caught on by now, I love a song that builds into a frenzy ...I sure do :)*I’m Shipping Up to Boston: Dropkick Murphy’s* – I first heard this song in the movie The Departed – instant love ... It’s fun to play whilst driving my Dita Veedub-vagen. (plus the MMBosstones Boston feel to them makes me nostalgic for the stage-diving years of mine) ;)*Bump in the Road: Jonny Lang* - gotta switch it up a bit, but I kept it in the vein of – *UNBEFRIGGINLEAVABLE* drive tune ... as I listen to it right now, I’m typing to the beat & got the head moving like a bobble-head doll. I’ve seen him perform live twice – if you do ONE other thing before you die – it should, no MUST be to see him live – what he does to a guitar – & the voice of a 75 year old blues legend ... I just can’t say enough about how amazingly gifted he is. *Whiskey in the Jar: Thin Lizzy* – Well 1st off – the great name (though spelled incorrectly ;) ) I love their take on this traditional Irish song ... the vocals – dang there’s a load of good vocals on here (hear) ;) I really like for the vocals to be there when the songs are stronger ... makes a big difference in the sound.*Teenage Riot: David Kitt* – another Irish lad – really amazing – is involved in all aspects of his music – & obviously this is one the covers I spoke of that I’m fairly certain you don’t have. Again this is one that’s a bit softer than the rest of the album, but the original has that harder edge, so I thought I could sneak this one in & change it up a bit. I love how often times his vocals (again with the vocals) almost come up from under the note, it’s quite unique. Great LIVE !!!*Map of the Problematique: MUSE* – I wanted to put _Take a Bow_ on, political climate & all. I love what that song represents, & that some lads from the UK are the ones who wrote it. For me though, this song is so reminiscent of the style I fell in love with when I first started listening to Depeche Mode (a favorite of mine – always will be). This is another, I’m gonna drive really fast right now songs ! And the soaring vocals ... (damn, can’t get away from the vocals – I’m now giving this mix the AKA of – “Vocals Lizzie Loves :)*Hook In Her Head: Throwing Muses* – fell hard for these ladies in high school – listening to this album & Red Heaven constantly. Wanted to get another song with female vocals on it. I loved that they had an edge, but didn’t go the route of Babes in Toyland or L7 (love those bands as well though). Tanya Donnelly & Kristin Hersh – terrific pairing of pop with a Good Girls with Edge (GGWE honorary members) kinda vibe ... no wonder I love them !*Soon: My Bloody Valentine* – it was really hard for me to decide which MBV song I wanted to put on here – so I went with the first song I ever heard of theirs ... still one of my favorites ... this is another **+near perfect+** song for me. Where Redhouse Painters push the vocals & the instruments take a back seat – MBV’s shredding guitars stand center stage & the vocals almost seem like an afterthought – an ethereally beautiful afterthought ! :)*Energy: the Buzzcocks* – This is from the BBC sessions – I just love these guys as you know ... granted my favorite from them is Ever Fallen In Love ? I thought this fit nicely on this mix though – being that it has such crazy _energy_ , no ?!? :)*Rootless Tree: Damien Rice* – this song is even better live – when he starts yelling FU%K YOU F%CK YOU – I feel it deep down in my guts & it’s beating the crap out of my guts, turning those guts into a bloody pulpy mess ! That the song starts out so soft & lovely makes it all the pulpier & bloodier, those guts of mine ! I thought this would be a perfect ending for the first foray into the harder-edged head of lizzie.**On a scale of 1-10 for one of my coveted mixes, this one’s an 11**You’ll have to let me know what you think ...
