Ever since I really started listening to music, Tori Amos was the one and only girl crush of mine. The way she straddles the piano bench, heats up the cd player/concert venue with her voice, that firey red hair, yup it was a total girl crush.Never really faltered - and to be honest - I'll always have that crush on her.But move over bacon, I got something meatier ... Amy Winehouse.I've seen you folks writing about her, saw her name at Coachella, but it wasn't until I started watching the 2007 Brits that I fully understood the meaning of an *adult* woman crush.Tori will always hold a special place in my heart - she was my first, we always fondly remember our firsts right ???But Ms. Winehouse hits me to the core in a completely different way. I think after I've fully comprehended how large this woman crush is, I'll have to go to rehab, sure hope she's there when I go ;)Here's the night we first met ...Don't worry Tori - you'll always be in my heart ...

    Lizziegreeneyes says Awww Kev, say it ain't so ... Lily Allen ??? She's a little too vapid vocally for me (different strokes I know ... just joshin). It's not the look for me, with Amy, it's the voice ... it's her choice to bring back that fabulous Motown sound that the kids these days aren't as well-versed with (get it, versed) & putting such a fresh new spin on it at the same time. I won't say Lily Allen isn't doing her own thing, nor will I say she's not fresh, just a little to lite for me, & if I'm gonna do it, it's not gonna be lite ;) But, really, what it boils down to is, you get your B Flowers *&* Lily, & I get my front toothless Amy ... Fair trade I'd say, plus the added bonus of sharing Amy with my soul sister & fellow partner in crime, Anna :) This deal will be null and void if I don't get to keep my two boy crushes: Glen Hansard & Ricky Wilson ....... & the lead singer of the Walkmen. Come to think of it, I have loads of boy crushes ... what you don't know won't hurt you :) Got to hang with Little Man Chase today - he's a pistol, I'm changing his nappy (how Brit am I ???), and he decides he want to practice rolling over ... he's the best !!! Looks up at me with these big gorgeous deep blue eyes and smirks just like his Mama as if to say, what, did I do something wrong, look, I'm working on my technique, do I really need a nappy to do so ??? Yup, said all that with one look !!! Then he gives me loads of kissies & huggies & I'm a pile of mush ... boy does he have me whipped ...

There is always next time Mike, & I might just have to get my tush to San Francisco to join you ... haven't been in far too long (4 years or so). Plus that whole, "gotta see a show at the Fillmore" thing - two birds, one stone :) (I know, I'm such a slacker these days, just don't tell anyone, n'kay) ... Hey there RnRPIMP, tell me about it ... will always love me a piece of that ;) She still haunts & amazes me ... always has, always will. Would love to meet the little spitfire that's probably ruling her home these days. Sure she's giving her Mama all sorts of wild & crazy times ...

    kat3260 says She's amazing, but as all of her albums, ADP definitely takes some time to digest. There's a lot more guitars (which I love) and more edge to it than _The Beekeeper_. There's actually 5 personalities on the album - Tori, Santa, Clyde, Pip, and Isabel, all based on Greek goddesses. I like the concept - I can't wait for a US tour!

I know that the Beekeeper got mixed reviews from all the Toriphiles, but I loved the album ... Ribbons Undone - makes me all kinds of vaclempt !!! But more guitars & edge ... sounds spectacular. btw - what's your favorite (you may exclude Little Earthquakes if for no other reason than it's the perfect first album from Tori - goes without saying).

As for the rest, it's a tough one for me...I love love _Boys For Pele_, but _Under the Pink_ is incredible and I love every song on it as well. And how can we forget _From the Choirgirl Hotel_. I can safely say, though, that _Scarlet's Walk_ is still to this date the toughest Tori album for me to process.

Though I liked the concept of Scarlet's Walk, it's one I hardly listen to ... can't get my teeth around it. _Strange Little Girl_ ... that's another one, I have to be in the _right_ mood for it ... but some of those tracks are pure brilliance !!! Girl - youse in my head ain't cha ??? ;) Dat's cool tho ... :)

I wish i could agree with you, but honestly Amy just annoys me. I really gave her a shot, given the tattoos (i LOVE lots ink on girls), but its just not working. I could put some more effort into it, but if a relationship is going to take that much work, it does make you question if it meant to be. Candace Kucsulain (Walls of Jerich) and Cinder Block (Tilt/Retching Red) have my heart.

    Lizziegreeneyes says Hey man, I hear you ... it was instantaneous my girlcrush on Amy ... but I can see how she's either a Luv or Hate kinda girl. Will surely check out your ladies !!! (every once in a while, check to make sure she doesn't work for you though) ... I never would have become a Pixies nut or a fan of Arcade Fire had I not given them a few chances ... while taking time in between each listen :) As I said in the original post - I ADORE the Motown sound ... so to have someone rockin that style, but making it new & fresh ... she's my kinda girl. Then there's Joss Stone - not that crazy bout her ... she's got the Motown sound ... but it isn't my bag baby ...
