*I Popped Marigold’s Cherry…*That’s right… you heard me correctly – or I guess I should say you READ me correctly. I had the great fortune on Monday night to meet up with Mike & his wife Heather in my hometown. It was his first MOGmeet… nearly a year to the day that he joined MOG actually !!! I am a well-seasoned MOGmeeter… it’s quickly become my favorite pastime… how could it not be ?!? Quite frankly, WE RAWK !!! \mm/Seems the ??Marigold’s TWO?? had been planning an East Coast road trip to check out the snazzy breweries that caught their attention as far west at Minnesota, ??*ya ‘der hey !!!*?? One of the stops along their way is my favorite US brewery, "*Victory Brewing Company*":http://www.victorybeer.com/home.html . *What do TWO MINNESOTANS @ VICTORY LOOK LIKE ?!?*
If you have not yet tried any of Victory’s beers – you’re doing yourself a HUGE disservice & need to rectify that issue post-haste. Get it? Got it? GOOD !!! OK Dale, you’re off the hook here – but they might still make a killer root beer you could enjoy ;)In our planning back & forth, I found that Mike & his better half (heheh) ??worry not Mike, ya know I love you… even found you your very own naughty school girl we lovingly nicknamed Anna (I wore bunnyears & latex Grecian Sister),?? are both big fans of Mexican grub & are both even bigger fans of cheap eats. Killed two birds with that stone. A new restaurant opened in town that fit the bill… I’ve been going there once a week since I found it, so it was the logical first stop on our night of eats, talks & BEER !!! We dined & the conversations were those of people who’ve known each other for ??year?? (heheh)… ok, it was that of old friends. We discussed MOG, we talked MOGgers, those I’ve met, those that keep us on our toes or in stitches… the basic goings & comings since they began their trek as he hasn’t been able to keep up with posts. Oh, and we talked BEER. [I will now let you in on a little secret, I contacted Victory ahead of time. They just went through MAJOR renovations & I wanted to make sure the place was rocking for our visit, but what I really wanted to do was arrange for a ??surprise?? tour of the brewery for Mike & Heather. So last Friday I spoke with "*Bill & Ron*":http://www.victorybeer.com/brewers.html (the co-owners of Victory & my one time bosses – I used to work there) to see if it would be possible. Bill is on a much needed/earned vacation this week – but he promised he’d speak with one of the brewmasters for me & come Monday afternoon I had everything arranged.]"*Dr. Tim Wadkins*":http://www.victorybeer.com/dr_tim.html – KILLER GUY – with an actual PhD. in Biochemistry I think… walked us through every back room of Victory, from the barley “cleaner” or malt prep to the fermentation tanks to the filtration system, & finally bottling, answering all of Mike’s questions in a very knowledgeable manner & always impressed with Mike’s beergeek ways (for those that don’t know… Mike brews his own). They were actually still brewing at 7:30 that night so we really got an exceptional tour & it was just the three of us & Dr. Tim… our own private (not quite three hour) tour. Heheh !!! I really have to send a thank you note to the gang at Victory with a special thanks to Tim, Kelly & Bill. They really went out of their way to give us a grand tour & I know it meant the world to me… Mike & Heather couldn’t stop talking about how cool it was… so I’d say Victory was VICTORIOUS !!!After the tour we got down to the real deal… DRINKING. And talking & tasting & talking & drinking & drexting & picture-taking & more drexting & talking & DRINKING some more. Before any of you worry, Heather was designated driver for the evening, Miss Lizziegreen hung up her car keys & gladly accepted a ride from the Minnesotans (both Mike & I were in no shape to drive… but we were in a shape to hug & laugh… a lot) !!! *See... Mike LURVES beer !!!* ;P
This worked out perfectly as the following morning, nursing a fuzzy head, but no real hangover – how the hegg did that happen, Victory usually KNOCKS me on my tush ?!? the three amigos met up again – to grab breakfast at the local greasy spoon diner & to pick up my vehicle. Breakfast was divine… though the conversations were a little slower (we were tired kiddies – big night to recover from doncha know), the smiles were still just as wide & the stomachs were thrilled to get some food in them. I really didn’t want it to end – I nearly followed them to "*Dogfish Head Brewery*":http://www.dogfish.com/ in Delaware. But my bed was calling me back, as was my Godson, who came home from a trip to visit his family in Florida. I again shout from the rooftop, if you have a chance to meet up with some MOGgers… follow Nike’s & my advice & *JUST DO IT !!!* It will always be a wise choice & will make for a richer soul. *LOOK... SHOES !!!*

geez i take a big break from mogging and miss this..... that Victory Golden Monkey stuff is killer, too, they should call it Drunken Golden Monkey boy.
What was the Mexican restaurant you visited? West Chester or Downingtown?
Chris... West Chester's a good one... La Tolteca... But the place I took them to is in Downingtown & to my mind more authentic... their MOLE kicks serious chicken arse !!!
dang i hate it when small rodent creatures beat up on poultry.
we made enchiladas a few nights ago and the coopster gobble 'em up like a mad thing.... musta had them back in Guatemala before we brought him home!
