WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

IS THIS SO WRONG ?!?

Posted about 1 year ago
So here's the thing... my favorite album of 2007 isn't from 2007. I was a late bloomer to the *Editors*... I didn't have cool siblings til joinin MOG this year. Siblings that hooked me up & got me hardcore into the Editors, *BIG PROPS to Anna & Dale* !!! & sure, An End Has a Start is a feckin brilliant album on the whole. But the album that I played repeatedly for days & days & rarely put down for more than a week or two at a time...h1. +THE BACK ROOM+ circa 2005 ;)So, what's a procrastinating greeneyedgirl to do ?!? I already know that +An End Has a Start+ will likely make it to my top 10 (gotta get the Delorentos up there for us Dale), still, the one that belongs at #1 is +The Back Room+ & I feel like a cheat not giving it its due.Maybe that's the method behind the madness of my post... I will struggle through this & work out my top 10 of 2007... til then, I will be rockin my mix tapes & +The Back Room+ in the hopes of inspiration in the form of 2007 albums that I lurve !!!

  18. Shud33 says Well I for one like The Editors, I get to see them in Feb!! I learned of them on here as well. Although, I checked them out after chainsaw had posted something about them. Oh yeah Mike...well it's 5 o'clock somewhere...start drinkin' :)

  21. Sam The Artist says love projecters in music videos, havent really "felt" the editors. i think its because his voice reminds me too much of all the bands that try to sound like joy division... but this song _was_ pretty catchy.

  22. Mike the Knife says Honestly, I like the earlier one a bit better, too. But none of this matters. It's your favorites of the year, not anyone else's. Then again, there are so many people who have included reissues and compilations on their lists that you should just pretend the album was reissued in 2007 - JUST FOR YOU!!! That'll show the List Police who's boss!

  23. Bartleby says Like a good brew, music needs time to find us. Not to worry about when it was made. (Personally, my best album this year is "Ascension" by John Coltrane recorded in 1965. I'm still trying to assimilate the melopoeia, to let it all sink in.)
    Permalink posted 01/04/2008
  24. darmuzz says Bartleby, you literate dude, pray tell what is melopoeia?
    Permalink posted 01/04/2008
  25. Bartleby says From: *dictionary.die.net* Melopoeia \Mel`o*p[oe]"ia\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ?; ?; song + ? to make.] (Mus.) The art of forming melody; melody; -- now often used for a melodic passage, rather than a complete melody.

  27. Lizziegreeneyes says *Mike:* you're just a goon... but I will let it slide, got a soft spot in my heart for midwesterners - best friend being one n'all ;) You will you be ?!? GOON !!! *Sarah:* take me with you in Feb !!! They play here the day before I get back from London... FRICK !!! *Sam:* I hear what you're saying (re the similar sound to JD) - there's just something about him (Tom) that gets to some deeper visceral level deepestly down in my bones, in my BLOOD & I can't help but fall into a state of bliss, rapture & all around head-bopping, toe-tapping, sing-songingness ;) *Mike:* That's brilliant - and exactly what I will do - a reissue just for me... hey, MOG did use one of _*MY*_ questions when interviewing them in 2007 - that's reissue-reason enough for me ;) *Bartleby:* I hear you on the Coltrane tip... Miles Davis & Charles Mingus didn't find me til college & Clifford Brown a few years after that - they are still at the top of my lists ;) & NICE VOCAB !!! Were you looking at my new word a day calendar ?!? *darmuzz:* WE GOT EDUMACATED !!!

  28. ciphermedia says I came to The Back Room late Lizzie, and had already totally immersed myself in An End Has A Start. So I'm afraid that The Back Room never quite hit me the same way that An End Has A Start did. But I still love em both, so we're at least on the same page!

  30. goodmusiconly says Will you still be my sister if I confess I've never listened to The Back Room, and whats more, that in July I played the first three tracks into An End Has a Start, stopped it for whatever reason and have never gone back? :/ The shame, it's unbearable. I'M SORRY!!

  31. Lizziegreeneyes says I will *+ALWAYS+* be your sister... sometimes that's how it goes... I couldn't take Billy Bragg for years... it's been 5 or 6 years that I had tried, but I didn't _*GET*_ him til a few months ago - then my beloved sis (you), hooked me up with all sorts of Bragg goodness (as did jameson & *b*lair) & my life has been forever enriched. Maybe you never get the Editors - thats cool m'luv ;) It will only cost you one snickerdoodle - I fully intend on sending out my next DECENT batch - first two didn't turn out right - TASTED GRAND - but looked all kinds of kookie, cookie ;) I hope they can make it to Greece without too much of a delay ;)
