So I've posted bout these lads before... as the local Philly band Huffamoose... they had a few ALMOST hits - one was a song called James... such a brilliant song really & another I Wanna Buy You a Ring - used in an ad for J C Penneys... SERIOUSLY ;)
They called it quits a while back, but not before they became the subject of a documentary Here Comes Huffamoose that was hailed by Mr. Music Lovah Cameron Crowe hissssself as one of the best rock movies of all time.
I've been all over Clem Snide the past few days & find there are similarities between the two bands... I have my main man b to thank for this love... well, blair aka satisfiedmind2 and a blast from our MOG past - Rawkkiddo (no longer active)...
Here is a post that b wrote about Clem Snide a whiles back... Clem Snide
For some reason - up til this AM, I thought of Clem Snide as a solo guy... oops, my bad... it's not the name of a guy, it's the band's name & it's one you should be checking out NOW !!!
I'll wait - just go to the box in the upper right corner that says Find your favorite music & type Clem Snide...
You can thank me later - but really - you should direct all thank yous to Blair !!!
So, as I am swimming in the beauty that is Clem Snide, I think on Huffamoose, one of my missed local favorites & decide it's time to google them again to see what's what. I've seen one of the lead singers - Craig Elkins - perform a few times at a local restaurant/bar in Philly called NXNW so I figure, I can at least link up to what he's doing... Turns out there's more going on than I thought...
Three other members of Huffamoose are back together, going by the name of The Fractals & are working on putting out an album...
GLEEEEEEEE or as my beloved bro would say... SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!
My eyes are extra green today with the news of something new coming from a big chunk of the lads from Huffamoose.
Check out their Myspace page Myspace THE FRACTALS

So there were a couple reasons for my "Monday's post".
First to pose a question to all of MOG ...
WHY DO THE SAD SONGS MAKE US (me) HAPPIER ?!? (it's always been that way for me, so on a grey stormy day - as was the case yesterday, Archive fit perfectly)
Second was to try to bring a band out of the MObscurity... Archive.
Our beloved Queen Anna posted about them three times... each post garnering more attention than the last. Also a post from funkinthetrunk that's worth a read & a listen.
Now back to my post... I was talking about the song LIGHTS off a beautifous Secret Santa Mix that I received from my sister & London partner in crime & chaos (love), Anna. This song I dug from about the third listen. The band is triphoppy goodness in a similar vein to Massive Attack. But by the time I hit London & found myself permanently attached to my pod whilst waiting for the underground, this was THE song I loved best... it fit the wait, it fit the blustery wind in the tunnels below ground... heck - it suited everything about that amazing city whether below or above ground.
This got me to thinking about sad songs though... as much as the song makes me happy - the lyrics are rather a bit of a downer. See lyrics below:
It hurts to feel
It hurts to hear
It hurts to face it
It hurts to hide
It hurts to touch
It hurts to wake up
It hurts to remember
It hurts to hold on
Turn my head
The hurt's relentless
The hurt of emptiness
The hurt of wanting
The hurt of going on
The hurt of missing
The hurt is killing me
Turn my head
Off
Forever
Turn it off
Forever
Off forever
Turn it off forever
Ever blind
And now a couple of reasons why I've reposted...
I got some great responses... Sadly lost to the stratosphere betwixt MOG & the end of the world as we know it... so I hope you will again come to this post with your answers...
It's quite a mixed bag of emotions... and today is such a gorgeous day, it's hard to feel this post as I did yesterday... but for you dearest MOGgers, I try !!!
MOG - please come back to us... healthier & wiser, we miss you when you're away & we hurt when you take things away from us... we want to fall in love all over again... please help to make that happen.
xoxo

It's like déja vù all over again. Yeah, from the sounds and lyrics it seems like somebody mus've lost a puppy. It's nice to know someone feels as bad as you do.i think that's what I said. Then there was a comment from gympumpkin about here musical salves, then I talked about how I was lucky enough to be a teen when Joy Division came out and tapped directly into my angst, and then you talked about the Cure. its all coming back to me.
Here was one of my favorite lines from it... Francois had it saved !!!
Is it the Irish in me that takes comfort in my own misery, even finding humor in it ?!? Is it the offering the song brings... I am not alone in this ?!? Is it just me and my sick head finding a way to cope with the days I feel less than stellar ?!
Yes... you can't go wrong with Joy Division... I remember saying I didn't have them in high school - wasn't a recent convert - (I can faithfully say now TOTALLY a born again Joy Divisioner... )
