WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Shape of Things to Come?

Posted over 3 years ago
I loved Audioslave's first album, not so much their second, but this third effort is pretty tasty. It's more of the first really, which is quite all right by me. :) Distinctive Tom Morello guitar solos are peppered throughout, but retain a sense of melody they sometimes lack in some of his more experimental stuff.Other than Track 5 "Original Fire" (which just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the album) there's not a song on Revelations that I don't like."Until We Fall" (Track 4) is my personal favorite. And when I'm tired of feeling black
Spread the wings upon your back
Take us high above it all
Stroke your feathers 'till we fall, until we fall back down again
I love Chris Cornell's voice. :) LOVE the lyrics and the funk here, especially on Track 6 "Broken City", and how 'bout that delicious driving bassline at the beginning of "Wide Awake" (Track 10)? I've been pleasantly surprised by this album and I love it when that happens! From "Moth" (Track 12)I love the heat I love the things that I forgot
I love the strings that tie me down and cut me off
I was a king, I was a moth with painted wings made of cloth
When did the flame burn so high and get so hot?
Can't wait for Chris's next solo effort due out early 2007.P.S. I miss Soundgarden.

  2. Little Miss Mayhem says Audioslave definitely has a very distinct sound that I'm sure does not appeal to everyone, however I'd be hardpressed to understand how someone liking their first album wouldn't like this one. Was your friend new to the band altogether?

  3. lemontwist says I'm digging Revelations! Haven't given their first album a try but will do now that you mention that it's good. I'm a huge Soundgarden fan, and somewhat a Rage fan, and definitely a Chris Cornell fan, so I feel bad that I haven't given Audioslave their fair shot.

  5. Little Miss Mayhem says Oh Holy DELICIOUSNESS!! ;) Yes, definitely check out their first album. Audioslave is definitely different and certainly experimental at times, but I dig that about them. I'm not sure what it is I like less about the 2nd album other than that Morello's guitar is just a little bit *too* out there for me in places. I think the guy's absolutely brilliant and can respect his artistic vision, but can't always get into his headspace musically (if that makes sense).

  10. raithrover says I really miss Rage Against the Machine, and Soundgarden a little less. Probably with Audioslave is they jumped straight into it without too much thought, and this album per year is good if they are consistant, but they're far from that.
