Alright, back from our West Coast tour- gearing up for a little Solo acoustic show in town with some Washingtonians with Day Jobs...always fun to put random folks on stage.

New Video:

and a fine review from Seattle with the Moondoggies at the Sunset Tavern: http://mel.opho.be/index.php/show-reviews/moondoggies-junior-league-sunset-tavern-seattle-wa-april-14-2008.html

We brought these good lookin crooners and their musical buddies down to Portland, and they brought us back up to Seattle with a nice BBQ throw down to boot for Eli's birthday. They will be playing at Sasquatch Music Festival next week, so if you are in the NW- go. Sounds perty... music on the Columbia River Gorge.

But its good to be home- we are playing a big old homecoming show at the Black Cat, Black Cat this Saturday night with our music neighbors the John Bustine Band and Garland of Hours. It's going to be one fine night of local rock at my favorite club in the country. Both msuicians and their bands are incredibly talented and we really enjoy througt out bills as such. Cellos, fiddles, mandolins, hollow body guitars and sundresses at the Cat.

">

Right after this Junior League is heading down to Fiddler's Grove (also called UNION GROVE) to meet my daddy-o and his band and all my "Kin" at www.FiddlersGrove.com where we'll be headlining the festival for memorial Day- then doing a gospel set to close out the weekend Sunday morning. Check his music out with all of us in his band at www.myspace.com/halbeaverblackgrass This is gonna be the last year I perform at the Grove with my dad due to his illness- something we've been doing since I was a baby and when I got to meet Doc Watson. We are recruiting folks from DC to come down with us and camp and jam. There is moonshine and 94 year old womens and mens picking all weekend. It's really heaven on earth.

">

Future plans for the Summer include Junior League on the main stage at FloydFest with the Avett Brothers, Donna the Buffalo, the Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Blueground Undergrass, David Grisman and more. As well, we are in talks of a Fall tour with Hoots and Hellmouth on the east coast. love those gents, so it shold be a good time.

In case I haven't mentioned it, we have a radio station on PANDORA now, as well as all our merch on the www.JuniorLeagueBand.com site, and all the mp3s on iTunes, eMusic, Last.fm, and more.

hopefully see folks this summer! cheers, Lissy

Best festival so far this year- Merlefest with the Levon Helm Band. Sucker for that tune with his daughter "A Fool in Love"

Alright..... break out the sundresses and sandals....its officially Spring

1) getting ready to head West

highlights to watch for: Martin might leave his biking trip to join us (three cheers for a full time harmonica, not Lissy!!!), as well, Dale might be leaving the IMF to hop on his Mandolin and fly to Portland (hip hip hooooray for a mandolin!), Rurik Nunan (Atlanta's finest fiddler) is joining us full time for some Pacific Ocean, AND we get not ONE but TWO days with our band crush, the Moondoggies (if you find yourself in Portland.... JL and the Dawgs have a few tunes up our sleeves together for you.)

2) loads of new tunes...but you can't download them or by them...

we were geared up to sign with a close pals label, stashed away a producer in our closet and his 30+ pianos for the occasion, but details did a triple backhandspring, and no longer a go. NO FEAR, we are playing these suckers out loud and every where we tread. therefore, check out the tour schedule...particularly as we are practically playing EVERYWHERE in the US before July (mid west will be added this week)... DIY style of course, but all the more fun!

3) I have picked up screenprinting

Brandon Schmittling, Junior League's resident aritst/graphic designer/superhero, crafted a large variety of logos a year ago when I started this bad boy of a project with Dale and Devin. Now, I am screenprinting these masterpieces on anything that doesn't move..as I listen to demos of our new tunes. Thats right. I listen to my own band pretty much all the time. No need for MOG, I pretty much just rotate ME:) kidding. kind of. Thanks to BUSTER in Brooklyn for giving a gal a Saturday morning- three cheers to you Mr. Black.

4)Fiddlers Grove is approaching.

This will (most likely...) be the last time I play with my father at our family's festival. If you are near an airport, make your way to it Memorial Day. the Black Cat has given us the Saturday before the Festival where we'll do a big homecoming show and grab folks from the audience and stash them in our van, named Corn-holio, and take them to NC with us. But in all seriousness, we are taking as many DC kiddos as we can, and trekking down for my last festival with Daddy-O (lets all say "F*&$! Alzheimers" together. Grab your ticket and get there by sunset Friday evening of Memorial Day....

5) shot new Music Video up and down the alleys of our fair nations capitol....

Editing this week, thanks to Olise Nwachukwu for filming. Watch for the video later next week....until then feast your eyes on this one.....

Artist: Decemberists, Junior League, Gillian Welch, Nickel Creek, Be Good Tanyas, Hoots and Hellmouth, Moondoggies

So we have just returned from our first "national" tour and by national we mean, an east coast stint and a west coast stint.

La, SF, Berkeley, Portland, Seattle, Eugene, Corvallis, Cottage Grove, NYC, Nashville, Asheville, Brooklyn, Philly, Chapel Hill, Charlottesville, Atlanta, DC, and more..

We ran into lots of great bands along the way- and held down alot of time in the van listening to tunes...

Bands we shared bills with and fell for: the Moondoggies in Seattle, Hoots and Hellmouth in Philly, and Katie Herzig in Nashville. Catch them live- you'll be glad.

Music on the Road- I suppose I never got into the Decemberists until now.... missed the craze! But caught it now. Lot of time on the floor of the van trying to sleep between the two benches on the floor driving from city to city and absorbing what just happened there- can't turn over on your side its so tight- so turn on ipod (which I lost on the West coast) and close your eyes. I listen to alot of our Junior League practices I record.

I think my "fall to sleep" mix included- Gillian Welch (One More Dollar, Lowlands, NoOne Knows My Name, Dear Someone), Nickel Creek (Pastures New, Out of the Woods, Sabra Girl), Both Go Down Together, Junior League Practices, The Be Good Tanyas ("Nobody Cares For Me, Human Thing, and For the Turnstiles, Only in the Past)

maybe you should fall asleep to them too I am sorry, I don't spell check
