Tired and Just getting Started

Yeah Mann! This year has been a busy one. I have been in promoting mode for the last 7 months. Getting tired fast, wanting to give up! That's when I know I need to hang on!

805 South is only beginning a great career in music. But the thing of it is, is that not everyone knows it. That is the difficult part. Promoting a band is hard work, especial here in LA. Why the hell did I start a band here?!. Everyone is sooo jaded about bands. I know that some of them suck! But we don't!

I’m from Memphis, TN, home of blues, birth place of rock n' roll (so the road sign says). Bands are kick ass there, and when I moved to Nashville, no way could you see a sucky ass band.

Whatever! I know there are awesome bands here I seen them. It just that you can’t hear them cuz everyone is talking over them. Bah Bah Bah all through the songs. This is not just at local shows even mainstream shows, like Linkin Park, 311, etc… Shut the F#$K up! Smoke your joint after the show.

Anyway, the band thang is hard, because no one give a sh%*t until ya famous or on YouTube making a complete ass of yourself. You know your music is really good but you have to go through a lot of BS just to get it heard. This is somewhat the law of the land. It’s like being in line and not knowing what your number is, you get to the desk and you don’t have the right form and you have to get back in line. Still not knowing what number you are and what form you have to have.

Yeah yeah pay your dues. Bah Bah, I have awesome musicians in my band that have been playing for over 20 years some even longer. Haven’t they paid their dues. What the F#$k does that mean anyway?!. I know life is a journey not a destination. But damn can I cut to the chase and get that licensing and distribution deal. And play with cats like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Black Crowes, Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, STP, Metallica, etc…

I love music and love making it. I see why bands break up before the CD is made or even during the CD getting made. Ok, here you go, now just put it in a box cuz no one will hear it.

Yeah Mann, I am not going to give up. I will give up on worrying about it. I have sense done that! I am quite the worrier. Just set back and enjoy this moment, cuz this will pass and the deals are going to be rolling in and I will sit back and laugh about how I wrote this whiny ass Mog about how I was tired and mad about BS music industry.

I will focus on the awesome things like building a band from an ideal, and making it a successful. Building a fan base one person at a time. Setting goals for the band and getting them done. Goals like, a great set list, playing live, getting in more great venues other then dive bars and getting in the studio and recording my 1^st ever CD of 11 songs that I wrote. Now, I didn’t write them all. I have the lovely Candy, my partner in crime, help. She wrote her songs and I wrote mine. If I didn’t have her I would go crazy. She is my Jesus piece!

What's New
BATTLE OF THE BANDS: 805 South did a battle of the bands. It was fun and exciting. We didn’t win but you know how it goes the band with the most peeps wins the show! It was great playing and meeting new bands and gaining new fans.
4 SONG CD SAMPLER: We have handed out over 40 CD samplers at our show. If you haven’t received yours yet then come and see us live. These songs will be on our upcoming debut CD.
