When I began listening to a few songs from a band I found on Stereogum, I immediately recognized the voice of the lead singer, but couldn't put my finger on it till I looked them up: Mat Brooke from Band of Horses! Turns out he left the band and began a new band known as Grand Archives (www.myspace.com/grandarchives) that he sings and writes just as beautifully as he did in Band of Horses. I'm extremely excited to get to know this band better and hopefully see them live (out on tour with Modest Mouse now and signed to SubPop Records).
