So I've recently been introduced to a really magnificent album by Msquared64..aka bomb ass mixtapes...(yeah yeah..i know..you all trust and love him :P man reminds me everday hahaha :)) The album is Andrew Bird's "Armchair Apocrypha", formerly from the band Squirrel Nut Zippers. This album has a lot of beautiful instrumentation displayed, such as my favorite, the picking of the violin strings! The arrangement of the strings themselves on the album is breathtaking (all played by Bird himself -learned to play by ear!), especially on the most beautiful and emotional piece on the album "Yawning at the Apocalypse". Andrews also adds his unique "musical proficiency" of whistling that makes his last name fit to a tea! (prettyyy cleveeerrr :p) One of my favorite songs on the album is "Imitosis" - friggin makes me wanna get up and dance the salsa or something! haha I'm hoping to catch his performance at Webster Hall on May 17th :) I'm saddened to hear he actually just played a show last night at Union Hall here in NYC that wasnt publicized - basically ironing out the show before going on tour - did anyone see it?? I've heard great reviews from a friend here at work about his previous album and his prior band "Andrew Bird and the Bowls of Fire". Enjoy and get up and start dancin to Imitosis!
