Portland has done it again...Blind Pilot

Posted almost 3 years ago

Blind Pilot is indeed from Portland, Oregon, someplace I feel like I absolutely need to visit knowing how many great artist come from Portland. Seems almost whimsical when I think of the place - trees, coffee shops, small venues, lots of bands.....a cozy little city :). Now these are obviously just my own thoughts of what Portland would be like, so if you're from Portland, I'd love for you to share you favorite part about the city for me :)

Okay, but back to the band at hand, who have become my all time favorite band...this month...:)..i mean I'll obviously always like them, but I have A.D.D. when it comes to music bad, as I'm sure a plethora of you Moggers out there do as well. The music scene is saturated with so much great music, its almost hard to keep up with everything. Well, it is hard! Crap i'm rambling again...

so BLIND PILOT...is a duo made up of Mister Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski, whom, according to their official site, have been friends since college. And apparently have a very interesting story about their tour last year:

"Last year Israel and Ryan embarked on a West Coast bike tour. This wasn't a tour where they road bikes, and had a van hauling the equipment. They hauled everything on their bikes. No gas. 100% leg powered. Playing little towns that don't often get shows by "touring bands" - they were able to share their brand of music with people who weren't particularly familiar with indie-pop, or indi anything. But they found that heart-felt lyrics an beautiful music appeal to just about everyone. In fact, they completely sold out of their EPs. They returned to Portland anxious to complete their first full-length album."

Can we say crazy?! Well it paid off because I'm starting to see them spread like wildfire and I'm likin it! Their Album "3 rounds and a sound" is great and one of those albums you can listen to straight through. I enjoyed every minute of their vocals, storytelling and guitars a frenzy. It is funny that their song "Go on Say it" reminds me (minus the lyrics) of a Flight of the Conchords melody, haha. I guess you could say these guys are the real deal of that duo :). I decided though to share one of my favorite songs on the album "Oviedo", I just couldnt love it more.
