From a town known as Wheeling, West Virginia (The Lyrics game)!!!

Posted over 3 years ago

Okay, I played this lyric game a while ago when btittanybf posted it, and it was so much fun for me to guess, I decided to put some lyrics of my own up...in case you haven't read about the game before, I'm putting the ecclectic mix of my iPod on shuffle...I'll write down the first couple of lines or so from the first 20 songs, and then you get to try and guess what the hell I'm listening to these days. As people guess the title and artist correctly, I'll put their names next to the songs in bold (bonus points for knowing the album). Then the title of this page will be the first line of lyrics from the 21st song...got it...good...have fun!

1.) I don't care
Care if it's old.

2.) When the outside temperature rises
And the meaning is oh so clear

3.) There's a knock at the door that I adore
There's a face at the window, a smiling yellow face

4.) Rock the cradle of love. Rock the cradle of love
Yes, the cradle of love

5.) Well I tried
But I won't give in

6.) Let me show you what love is.
Let me show you how to move your body.

7.) I taught you how to Cyclops Rock
And then you go and turn around and break my heart

8.) Smile
Though your heart is aching (Song title - Smile - answered by deadmandeadman...plus triple bonus points for knowing it was written by Charlie Chaplin...something I had no clue about!!!)

9.) How does it feel when you're dead inside
Lost someone to the other side

10.) I know, I know, I said that I would quit
All right, I promise, no more after this

11.) I see you baby, shakin that ass, shakin that ass, shakin that ass,
I see you baby, shakin that ass, shakin that ass, shakin that ass.

12.) Castellano que bueno
baila usted.

13.) I want to tell you
My head is filled with things to say
(Song - I Want to Tel You - Artist - The Beatles - answered by deadmandeadman)

14.) You don't know how you took it
You just know what you got

15.) He-he-heat in your skin
pull up a chair and unwind

16.) Makin' a livin' the old hard way
Takin' and givin' by day by day (Credit to deadmandeadman for remembering the original artist - Tommy James & The Shondels - the song on my iPod however was a remake [hint, hint])

17.) I see your sister in her Sunday dress
She's out to please

18.) Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light

19.) Here I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
(Song - You've Got to Give Your Love Away - Artist - The Beatles - answered by deadmandeadman)

20.) I saw three ships come sailing in,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;

Good Luck!

Well, deady, I can give you partial credit on a bunch of these...

8.) The song is "Smile" but it isn't sung by Charlie Chaplin.

13.) and 18.) Are The Beatles...but what are the song names???

Double bonus points for remembering the original artist for 16.) (I actually forgot the one on my iPod is a remake...from a modern rock group...for a soundtrack...hinty hint hint...)

Yeah, I know both 18.) and 20.) have been done by lots and lots and lots of people...but if I didn't pick the first 20 songs I would have been cheating, so triple points to anyone who can pull the artists out of the barrel of people who have done these traditional favorites...

    Good guesses Deady!!

Deadman, I've got to give you some awesome credit here.  I've listened to that song thousands of times, and never knew that Charlie Chaplin had written it!  Seriously, I had to do some research just to be sure that you weren't putting me on!

Now, dig this...I love the Chaplin "little tramp" series!  I've probably watched most of the old silent films a dozen times each, and still didn't know that he also wrote one of my favorite songs...a round of aplause for deadmandeadman ladies and gentleman (and the crow goes wild!!!!)

Oh yeah, and of course you got the Beatles songs right...I knew you knew, you know?

Seriously, awesome fun fact I've learned today, and great clip to add to the game!!!
