Today I find myself home sick - it seems that I wasn't able to stave off the head cold that has been making the rounds. I did venture out to get some cough drops and the fixings for chicken noodle soup. I have one of these "nifty crockpots":http://www.westbend.com/westbend/catalog.cfm?dest=itempg&itemid=2634&secid=5&linkon=section&linkid=5, and having been using it quite a bit lately.Here's my thrown together recipe:1 carton organic vegetable broth (32 oz.)As much water as it takes to provide enough liquid for cooking1 package boneless skinless chicken thighsHalf an onion, chopped into small piecesSeveral cloves of garlic, chopped3 small tomatoes, chopped4 small hot red peppers - unknown variety; I think they were mislabeled at the store, cut in half to remove most seeds, and big enough to avoid unwittingly biting into themCook until chicken is almost done. Add one carrot, chopped into small pieces. When the chicken is done, add noodles. Cook until noodles are soft.I have no idea what this will taste like. I'll let you know in a few hours!I finally settled on just DeVotchKa for my listening while cooking. I like the various moods of Una Volta. Some songs are upbeat, some are melancholy, some make me feel like I'm at a circus, and others like I'm sitting in an Eastern European cafe. Perfect for the way I'm feeling today.
