When I was young - say, twelve or so, I remember riding around in the car and listening to music. Now, let's be clear here - this was long enough ago that seat belts weren't the law. My brother and I used to ride around in the very back of the station wagon (a Ford Gran Torino, sort of rusty metallic color). My parents let us lay in the back, and we'd demand they turn up the radio on the back speakers. The song I remember most was Edgar Winter's Frankenstein. Oh how I loved the long part that sounded like a rubber band! At least, that was how my twelve year old mind thought of it. I can still remember laying back there, traveling home from who knows where at night...just happy that that song happened to play while we were listening."Turn up the radio!" I'd shout.Funny how things come around full circle. These days my own twelve year old son often asks me to turn up the radio - and I very happily oblige.
