  2. Librarianguish says I just ordered that Rank and File disc, and it should be arriving in a couple of days. I thought I was the only one on the planet that knew who they were! I saw them play twice, and got in on the guest list the second evening just because I bothered to say hi after the show and very honestly said I couldn't afford it when Chip asked me if I was coming the next night too. Oh wait - I did see them another time, how could I forget?!! The one and only time I snuck into a bar with somebody else's ID was just a few days before my 21st birthday, to see Rank and File. I must have really looked harmless, because I know the woman that let me in knew the ID wasn't mine... They are one of my ALL TIME favorite bands...you don't happen to have the other two discs, do you? I have them all on vinyl, of course. And Pain By Numbers is on my multiply...

  3. leftoverking says i have just the one. i bought that record the week it came out back in my high school days. i was a fan of their earlier incarnation, the dills. i do have some of that stuff, but no other rank and file stuff. i always liked the conductor wears black song too... the more i think about it, that whole record is really damn good. o.k. you are making me dig through the stacks of wax tonight.

  4. Librarianguish says You're darn tootin' that's a good record! I probably listened ruts into mine. Don't have a way to listen to it right now, so sing loud for me, will you? I'll be purchasing the other two discs soon, as well. I think I have a couple of songs...I'll see what I can dredge up. It occurs to me I have absolutely no recollection of how I found out about Rank and File. None. Did I mention I love them? Maybe more than Mr. Ghostland, even. Chip Kinman has a myspace ~ http://www.myspace.com/chipkinmanandpch Cool...I could stal...I mean, say hi!

  7. AA Coppertop says Someone earlier this evening was complaining about some cover version, how it was butchery. For sooth: Butchery is a noble profession, and the Meat Purveyors prove the point once again.

  8. Librarianguish says I believe that someone was complaining about the version of Baba O'Reilly posted on Deadmandeadman's mog... The Meat Purveyors prove a lot of points, as far as I'm concerned. And they are certainly tops in my book!

  11. fistula spume says Great song. Really like it. I'll tell what sticks in my craw is that combo food and meat chopper. How funny is it that there is a distinction between food and meat? Also, you can't chop your veggies in the same thing that your chopping meat. It's not sanitary. Judging by the box it looks big. It's not your simple top of the counter food and meat chopper. That's for the food and meat chopper enthusiast. Who chops meat like that anyway? Ok I'm stepping down off my food and meat box.

  12. Guttersaint says

Chip and Tony Kinman of Rank and File wrote the song Amanda Ruth and it was first released on their 1982 album "Sundown" - Although the song is performed by the Everley Brothers it was NOT written by them. The Everley Brothers recorded the song very late in their career as it can be heard for the first time on their 1984 Album entitled 'Born Yesterday' - just wanted to clear that up.
