MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

(23)

One of those albums you hold close, the kind you listen to on a winter's day just so you can smile, just so you can hear Jerry sing "Nailed a retread to my feet, and prayed for better weather" or "That's the way it's been in town, ever since they tore the jukebox down. Two bit piece don't buy no more, not so much as it done before." I don't bother to try and learn or memorize a lot of lyrics, hell I'm lucky if I can sing along with a song I've heard fifty times, but those stick with you. Music is savin my ass these days. It's sad when that's all that can make you smile. The cover rocks too. The lettering of the bands name puts in mind of some late night last chance outpost on the road to purgatory. Better get inside quick and handle some of that rock and rye before you make that last turn into an eternity of floating into nothingness.
