2001

A very edgy album popular at a very frightening time to be an American. That fall our lives, and our world changed, every day brought a new fear, a new reason to look over our shoulder. No longer were we on an island, the fight had been brought to us. The air became cold a little earlier that fall, no one will forget the descent from youth to darker days so quickly, this was my soundtrack for those times when the warm sun was tempered by anguished winds.

  1. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says I loved that album. Haven't listened to it for years. My taste moved in a different direction but I need to re-listen and take a trip down memory lane.

  2. brand X says I've been listening to this album quite a bit lately... Although I consider it to be a pretty great album, I found it a little disappointing as a follow up to their previous album. I guess I just preferred the arrangements on their first album, that and their sense of humor seemed to come through much better on the first album. I'm not so confident in that assessment now, but that is how I felt at the time. I never bothered to pick up any of their subsequent albums, a situation that I am beginning to think needs to be changed.

  4. Lester Jonze says From the Wiki: ATWA is an acronym for Air, Trees, Water, Animals and All The Way Alive. It was first termed by Charles Manson in the early 1970s. ATWA is not an organization; the name represents the life support system of the Earth. Charles Manson and his associates, most notably Lynette Fromme and Sandra Good, use the term to name the force of life and the opposition to that which destroys the ecological balance of the Earth. ATWA is associated with the so-called Manson Family. Also associated are the music group Family Jams and Order of Rainbow. Since ATWA is not an organization, there is no membership. Manson has said all life is ATWA. Sandra Good was imprisoned for 10 years for conspiracy to send threatening letters to corporate executives unless their corporations ceased polluting the environment. In 2001, Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian from the alternative metal band System of a Down wrote a song on the album Toxicity about this issue called ATWA.
