I have yet to hear anyone talk about these guys. I think I will in the next few days, they were a big part of some crucial musical times for me. In the meantime enjoy this live cover of one of my Favorite New Order songs.

they're amazing. the uncollected is my favorite thing, by far. i used to work in an indie record store, and it was one of those records that floated from hold box to hold box, because if anyone bought it, we wouldn't have it to listen to in the store. and that, that just wouldn't do.

Today is one of my alltime favs. The track Pictures is a deceptively simple song and occupies a spot in some sort of greatest songs list I have yet to create.
Baby my head's full of wishes
Baby my head's full of pictures
Baby my head's full of colors
Baby my head's full of pictures of you
Baby I spend all my money
Baby don't think that it's funny
Baby my head's full of colors
Baby my head's full of pictures of you

I saw G500 at The Rat in Boston, a little bit after Today came out. They were opening for the Pixies. I'd heard the Pixies were good, and had never heard of the G500. I just remember having tears in my eyes while listening. Then the Pixies came on and everyone started shoving.
I saw the G500 a lot in Boston after that. They never got much of a crowd. Apparently they did a fair bit better in Europe.
Today is my favorite G500 album, perhaps my favorite of all.
A lot of people seem to be associating The Clientele with the G500. Funny, I LOVE The Clientele, but I really don't see any musical connection. However, emotionally, I do feel the connection.
