...that the new Death Cab album is just a total pop nugget from start to finish, albeit a nugget with more than a little bitterness right there at the end. This though, is like an outtake from Pet Sounds. Good shit. Surprising. It makes me smile everytime I hear it. Come to think of it, Brian Wilson is all over this record, in all his shimmering sixties faded pop glory.

Wow, that drum sound is straight out of Gold Star! Very Brian Wilson indeed and a beautiful piece of melancholy pop. Thanks - not got aorund to hearing this album yet, but my appetite is whetted.
The play button says it's working but there's no sound. (Same for your MMJ post). But, that's OK; Narrow Stairs has been playing in my car and in my head for a couple of weeks now. A great album!

Wow, I hadn't thought of them in that light before. Then again I haven't been much of a fan although I like songs here & there. I've tried to get into them & listened to their albums Plans(which was too wimpy to me) & Transatlanticism(which rocked & I liked) but just haven't been able to get into them wholeheartedly.
