WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Coverage Part One

Posted over 2 years ago
Believe it or not, The Beatles were once an up and coming band. And as was the case back in those days, it was customary to record covers by already established artists as well as a few originals. So on their second LP, _With The Beatles_, they laid down this Smokey Robinson track, already very popular in the states, _You Really Got A Hold On Me_, and it's one of their best. I love hearing the emotion and the effort the boys put into recordings like this, today's artists could learn a lot.

  1. Lizziegreeneyes says My Mum had all the first pressings of the ENTIRE BEATLES catalogue... and in college - of course - someone stole the entire collection... DAMNED if that doesn't hurt me as much as it does her !!!! I do still have the book covers from her school days that were of the Beatles, Rolling Stones & Bob Dylan !!! Those are priceless !!! Thanks Lester : )

  3. FastRMacR says That story makes me Dizzy..Miss Lizzie! ;) You're welcome to my Beatle vinyl anytime. You know, with all of Beatles I have to listen to, I always find myself coming back to this album and all these great tunes. Indeed - lessons definitely learned from such a great group. This album surely shows us _their_ schoolin' - rocking some seriously great covers along with their own jams. It's great homage they play to our American Rock n' Roll here - this whole LP is priceless cover versions by The Fab (with a few priceless Fab songs as well)! It's a staple in any good collection. Ta Lester!
