I absolutely love this woman's music, passion and spirituality. Her album "Universal Consciousness" is very important to me. I heard her perform in late 2006 and I was deeply touched by the experience. Being in her presence is somthing that I wil never forget. Love and blessings to the Coltrane family.

Wooooooo. Itunes on random and this gem slid into my headphones. "Don't send me no doctor."
Nothin' like a soulful live recording on Sunday. "I got a little feel for things I don't understand sometimes."

If you are in New York I would reccomend going down to the Zinc Bar (Houston and LaGuardia) for the 8pm set on Tuesday nights to check out Ansel. He sings and plays guitar, sometimes with a bass/sax accompaniment, but, for real, he has a great voice and deep tunes. If not, grab his disk, Raised from the Dust. It's a pearla (as we would say Down Under)

i found this in burningdervish's mog about her, a nice article/interview with Alice Coltrane : http://waxpoetics.com/content/?article=alice
its a nice piece. i've been deeply inspired by john. his passion for music seems to have had a great effect on Alice...
Have you seen the DVD of the Branford Marsalis Quartet's rendition of "A Love Supreme"? It's pretty cool how they make the piece their own. Anyway, in the special features, there's a good interview with Alice. If you haven't already, check the DVD out.
She was such a unique artist, there will never be another Alice Coltrane. I hope more people take the time to check out her music!
