Jumpin' outta the Covers with 'Retha and Keef

    Jumpin' Jack Flash EP

    Jumpin' Jack Flash

I think I could possibly post a cover of Jumpin' Jack Flash every Sunday for quite some time and STILL not run out of versions. I know, I know I posted a bossa nova version many, many months ago, but I must say that this verson really takes the cake, for me. I actually picked up the EP of this on vinyl in Chicago a few years ago and still haven't gotten around to digitizing it. So, cor bless the soul that put up the MTV video on YouseTubes.

Look at 'Retha -- she is all decked out like a Punk Princess. That crazy hair/wig. The make-up. Whatever the heck that zebra-striped get-up she has on. Wooo weee. And there's Keef and Ronnie rockin' and dancing; and Aretha wailing it out to within an inch of her life. (Just do your best to ignore Whoopi). This is a strange little time capsule, to say the least. Who could have imagined these people in the same studio together? Apparently the people who made the 1986 film "Jumpin' Jack Flash" (starring Whoopi Goldberg).

The song kicks in at about the 1 minute mark. You could zip up to that point, or just ride through it if you like seeing Jim Belushi get hit in the head with a frying pan.

check the movie magic...Keef's in 2 places at once. Whoopi don't bother me, Belushi deserved that on a number of levels.

Musical Senior Citizens who are still capable of performing "dress for comfort" since the days when they needed speed/heat to get the mesage out are past.
